    Pack Cover Failure

How do manage you sopping wet pack when you go to a cafe or at the albergue? Just wondering.

    Small internal compression bags

I have found that compression stockings are great for compressing clothes. Roll up the clothes & pull the stocking over them. Not waterproof, but light & breathable, & a bit see-through.

Did you get tired of wearing same colours for weeks?

Colour is something that usually affects my mood. If I know I'm feeling a bit down, I'll purposely wear something cheery. With this in mind, my second long sleeve top (March -April camino) is a cheery bright pinky-orange) . However, on the Camino, there are very few mirrors or shop windows to...

    Which Jacket?

I also was in CF in April -May 2022 & walked in light snow on 3 occasions, and due to the late unexpected cold weather, many albergues no longer had their heating on. I was glad of all my puffies, thermals, beanie, gloves & buff, which I even slept in inside my lightweight sleeping bag. At times...

Our love & prayers are with you, mfmarotto & will hopefully reduce the incredible load you must be carrying in your mind & heart.

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

I advocate no clicking, loud talking or raucous laughter through villages in the early mornings, but I wonder if the locals become immune to it all as with early morning birds, cows, dogs, etc. I have lived near a trainline & a main road, & it didn't take long for me to become oblivious to it...

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

Same here. Good bye poles at Madrid airport.

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

Tracking poles might help with stability. ( Just check the surface you are walking on, carpet, floor boards or tiles.)

Portable bidet - would you use it?

Not wanting to get too graphic, but I'm not sure that a squirt of water from a water bottle would do the job ( no pun intended) after a #2. I feel the need for a wipe. I carry puppy poo bags & simply carry it all out.

    My Camino shopping

Maybe not for everyone, but for my first Camino, I had my hair cut really short. I didn't need to take shampoo, conditioner, a brush or a comb. It was mostly under a hat or a beanie, but it kept its "style" when uncovered. It was soooo easy, & it was the Camino, so appearance was not paramount...

    Lightweight down blanket

    Thank you.

    Lightweight down blanket

How do you deal with down blanket/ sleeping bag if you've encountered bedbugs? ( My sleeping bag is synthetic, so is heat tolerant) (Sorry if this should be in a bedbug thread.)

Gym leggings instead of "hiking pants"

I mostly walked my last Camino in zip-off pants . I like the pockets for my passport, money, etc. However, I do take a pair of lightweight leggings which I can wear to bed or wear as an under layer on cold mornings. I also take a very lightweight sarong. Can be used as a privacy screen, day or...

    $31 pack?

For me, padded waist straps is one of the most important features as the weight of the pack sits on my hips, not my shoulders. Hence my skeleton rather than muscle, & the load is not on my whole body. The shoulder straps basically just stop the pack tipping off backwards. It makes carrying it a...

How to use 2-factor ID for banking while traveling with a foreign SIM card

Taa muchly, Kathar1na. I can't wait to breathe in that rejuvenating Camino air. 😁

How to use 2-factor ID for banking while traveling with a foreign SIM card

URGENT ADVICE please re Travel Money Card. I'm leaving Australia in 2 weeks time to walk Camino Frances. I'm visiting some peregrinos (I met in 2017) in Germany first. I plan to use a Travel Dedit card in Euros for atm cash withdrawals for albergues & little food buys, & swipe/tap transactions...
