    walking sticks / poles

John Good advice. I use trekking poles because I have bad knee problems on the steep downhill slopes and on any downhill slopes on real long hikes. I don't like the poles myself and they are cumbersome most of the time (for me), but now that I use poles, when I get to the steep downhill slopes...

    Plug adaptor

Will I need the same plug adaptor for both Spain and France? And is it the one with 2 circular prongs. I think there are 2 plug adaptors with circular prongs, one is a bit larger, and if I remember correctly the smaller circular prongs are for France and the larger for Germany. But I don't...

    Tell me about Pacer Poles

Hi Wombat Have you had experience with regular poles prior to using pacer poles? I am currently using regular poles. Just started about a month ago. Tell me about Pacer Poles

Has anyone had experience using regular poles and then switching to Pacer poles or vice versa? I use leki poles right now, which are a great help, but I do have some irritation on the wrists from the straps. I am considering changing to pacers.

    ALTUS RAIN COAT

Oh, I don't like the sound of that. I was just about to order an Altus. Has anybody else had this experience with the Altus? Or can someone recommend some other type of rain gear? I plan to walk the Camino in September, hope it doesn't trun out to be a huge rainy season. Rita

    Backpacks... What else?

Smart thinking...not to buy a popular brand on the internet. I bought the GOLITE Jam2 online, it was so uncomfortable, it didn't matter that it was a feather weight. I tried everything ...packing, repacking, adjusting. Nothing helped. So the golite went back and I am back a square one. But a...

    GoLite backpack

I just received my Golite Jam2 women's backpack. It is a feather weight at only 1pound 9 ounces, 43 liter capacity. Just trying it out now. The first day was a little uncomfortable.... I think it was because my old backpack is well worn like an old shoe...fits just right and so comfy. After a...

    Hair dryers???

Thanks for the replies. The extra weight is not worth carrying a hairdryer. My hair is very fine and short so it should air dry rather quickly.
