    E SIM

To add to this, my Pixel accepts an eSim (GoogleFi - no international plan) and a SIM (I bought an Orange SIM in Spain). With WiFi calling my GoogleFi number worked over the Orange SIM data. This is a really nice bonus of eSIM+SIM. Dual SIM phones are handy

Umbrella for sun and rain - buy good quality (expensive) or just use a cheap one?

The umbrella ended up in the "I might use it category" so it didn't make my packing cut. My goal is to only carry things I absolutely need. I have other things for sun and rain that have other uses.

What I've learned from cycle touring is that anything that retains water is bad. One trip my rain jacket was soggy for days ... next trip I upgraded to an expensive shake dry. Layers dry faster and if your clothes can't be reasonably dried rolling in a towel they will stay wet too long.

28L pack on the Camino Frances this October

I'm going in October and using a 24L Osprey pack. No sleeping bag, just a silk liner. No real jacket but several layers. I've learned from cycle touring to take as little as possible, take only what you need and try to find multiple uses for things. With a silk liner, a beach towel and a...
