    Thank you all, a bulky item but useful to protect crushables and for its regular use, and where to store it is a good point C clearly; have a swiss army knife (with scissors/corkscrew) and an Opinel with larger blade and corscrew, which to take is my next quandry :)

    I bought the Stratos 34 originally (am in Australia) and found that I could not fit some of the bulkier items (lightweight down sleeping bag and silk liner sheet) in the bottom compartment easily although did fit.     Altra Olympus 5 Hike Mid GTX - first impressions

    Altra Olympus 5 for me, low cut, great cushioning, considering buying a second pair to walk in from April even though my first pair are still doing the thing after 250+km, not sure on their durability, but looking good atm...anyone have longer term view of their durability?
