Sock question for pilgrims with "chunky" ankles / feet

Thank you. A few test hikes was the plan, but I now have an achilles injury and on strict rest  ... until goodness knows when. Not ideal, as we start walking in 7 weeks. Ah well, what will be will be.🙏

Where to buy toe socks along the Camino Frances?

If only! But I don't start walking until June 3rd LOL. Buen Camino

Sock question for pilgrims with "chunky" ankles / feet

Great idea, thank you. I actually wear a men's wide fit trail runner, so I should have thought of that! LOL

Where to buy toe socks along the Camino Frances?

Thank you. Good point re mini crew or no show socks. I've probably become too focused on getting hiking socks. Maybe an everyday pair of socks will work (although not as thick).

Sock question for pilgrims with "chunky" ankles / feet

I have been "blessed" (not) with "high volume" (fat lol) feet, wide feet, and chunky ankles. A such, I have a lot of trouble finding suitable socks. I wear liner toe socks, that's fine. My problem is the second sock. Most hiking socks have an elasticised band around the middle of the sock. I...

Where to buy toe socks along the Camino Frances?

I find the Ininji liner toe socks to be fantastic for preventing blisters between my toes, but they tend to wear out quickly. Has anyone found places along the Camino Frances where these can be purchased? Thank you.

    Walking with lumbar pack only

Yes, that range of movement (taking a backpack on and off) is becoming problematic.

    Walking with lumbar pack only

Yes, I did wonder about the "droop factor". The sling pack is worth a thought, thank you for that idea. One should is ok, thank goodness!

    Walking with lumbar pack only

Yes, I've been thinking about that too. The frameless backpack I used in 2018 is very light, and not too big, so spreading the weight across the backpack and a waist pack could work.

    Walking with lumbar pack only

Has anyone walked with a lumbar (waist) pack only? If so, what pack did you use and would you recommend it? I walked the Frances in 2018 with a 6kg backpack but I now have an issue with my shoulder so I'm considering using a lumbar pack next year if I can tweak (reduce) my gear a bit.

Shoes for wide feet, want to avoid problems with zero drop shoes

I had trouble getting wide fitting shoes for women, so I purchased a pair of men's wide fitting New Balance trail runners. They are so comfortable!

    Frame vs Frameless

I used this OMM pack in 2018 and will happily be using it again this year. It is only 700gm. It has a removable backpad however I chose to leave that in. I found it very comfortable, but as someone else mentioned, I would be wary of carrying much more than 6 kilos (I think I may have been...

Sandals with or without socks or trail runners?

Last year my leather boots go wet and shrunk in the first week . I was wearing toe sock liners with Coolmax hiking socks. I switched to my Teva Toachi sandals (good Vibram sole) and wore them with just the toe socks. This stopped me from feeling every little bit of sand/grit that found...

    Packing list question

Our hiking poles fold down quite small. We are using a small suitcase that is ready to be thrown out (or purchasing one from an Op Shop). We will ditch the suitcase in SJPDP. For the return trip we will either find a box in Santiago, or use one of our backpacks (reluctant to use the...

    Do They Fit? Tick List?

Thanks for that - I may still try them in that case.
