This reminds of of a clickity clacking perigino I wrote a short story about:
It is a pleasant day strolling along country lanes with hardly a person in sight. In fact, on this camino there are so few fellow peregrinos I usually never see another one while walking, only catching up with a few...
After trying both rain jackets and ponchos on 5 caminos, give me a poncho any day as long as it has zips and not studs. Studs do get blown apart in high winds, zips don't. I found the Snugpak to be incredibly easy to pull on and off over a backpack while still walking. With rain jackets you...
I have used both a Goretex rain jacket and two different ponchos on caminos (I have done several). The jacket didn't work with a backpack over it. It was difficult to put on - I had to take off the pack first - and was very sweaty. I ended up being as wet underneath as if I had not worn a...
The Aarn (a New Zealand brand) is well worth considering. I (male, 170 cm, 71 kg) and three females (all under 160 cm) have used the Aarn Aspiration with its balance pockets. All four of us have thought it brilliant The balance pockets make a huge difference.

The main thing to remember is to NOT use plastic bags. They annoy the hell out of anyone trying to sleep because of people rustling about in them. I have never needed or understood the use of dry packs/bags or any sort of bag apart for three small ziplock bags: one for toiletries, one for...
I have always used a thermolite sleeping bag sheet. Only very slightly heavier than a silk liner but it increases the temperature by up to 4 to 5 degrees Celsius. Much better than silk. By using it I have never needed a sleeping bag on the camino (walking in April and as late as September).
Ullamae, when you say you actually used one. Just wondering what was it you used....pig or blanket? 😁How about both? I would recommend taking the Australian version of both. It is a delicacy called a "pig in a blanket". It is a snag (sausage) in a piece of sliced bread, preferably done on a...
Everyone has their own favourite pack. And no one answer suits everyone. Mine is the Aarn. Specially made for the Camino. A New Zealand brand with two holsters on the front which are brilliant. Takes weight off the back and makes accessing drink bottles, maps, etc dead easy. But not matter...
