Arrrgh. . . It's Too Red. Will It Be Like Carrying An Easter Egg?

It looks fine. I have seen many red backpacks on the Camino and never thought anything of it. Can’t see the problem.

    Can we talk TOWELS please?

Oh yes, yes it looks great. I’m just throwing in another (cheap) option.
  3. Leibniz

    Can we talk TOWELS please?

I don’t like microfibre towels so use a face cloth. Proper towel material but tiny (about 20x20cm) therefore not too heavy.

Is it OK to keep your pack on your top bunk with you?

Also - please pack up the night before! Your fellow pilgrims will be grateful. :)

Changing Socks (or just airing them out)

Yes go for just airing if it works for you. Depending on when you walk though...in the winter months they might not dry very fast, and you really want them to be dry before you put them back on as it’s the moisture that will cause problems.

Changing shoes as well as socks?

As you don't have to worry too much about weight, yes go for it!

Advice re my packing for June Frances from Leon? Esp. from ladies! ta :-)

Re. Powerbank. I brought one and it was a bit heavy. I only needed it a couple of times but when I did - boy was I glad to have it! It was pretty much my only non-essential item. I could have done without it but it was nice to have it.

Advice re my packing for June Frances from Leon? Esp. from ladies! ta :-)

Wow you’re doing pretty well, there! I would leave the clothes line home, you won’t need it. Not sure you need the bag liner either. Manucure set: just take nail clippers IMO. I would take a microfibre fleece instead of a puffer jacket if I were you. A bit more versatile. No to long johns...

    How big is your pack?

Osprey Tempest 30L. Still plenty of room in there after I’ve packed all my stuff. :)

Non walking partner wants to buy a motorbike - any suggestions?

Sorry I cannot help. I just felt compelled to say that I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Have fun!

My rucksack weighs 1.5KG. That's no good!!!

Yeah I get that! My pack last year was a 45l Decathlon pack that weighed about 1.7kg. Not ideal but I couldn’t afford a better/lighter one. I still managed to have a packed weight of about 6.5kg. I’m just saying one should agonise over a 1.5kg pack if it’s otherwise suitable, fits well etc.

My rucksack weighs 1.5KG. That's no good!!!

    I don’t think 1.5kg is THAT heavy!

    LinerSocks

Aaaah...thick layer of gehwol, injinji liners, darn tough cool max cushion socks...heaven on Earth. 😁
  15. Leibniz

Osprey Exos 48 good pack for Camino?

Teehee the thought that people would assume I’m American when seeing me me with my Osprey and my Merrells amused me. 😁 Then I remembered my badges...they’ll give the game away, I think. 😂

How To Recognize a Fellow Forum Member While On Camino

Even without the badge you will recognise them easily by the general air of wisdom that radiates from them.
  17. Leibniz

    Bra Recommendations?

Normal bra here too. Not running nor doing star jumps or anything while on the Camino so am very happy with normal (synthetic fabric, quick drying) bra.

    Hiking Skirts

Skirt-wearers...do you not worry about thigh chafing? I know I do! It’s the one thing that stops me from getting a hiking skirt (otherwise I’d be all over them like a rash - no pun intended) ;)

@Geodoc you won’t fall foul of the law for carrying the knife of your choice in London. The law doesn’t say you can’t carry a knife, but that you can’t carry a knife without valid reason. Valid reasons include recreational purposes. If I were you I would read up on this (don’t just take my...
