Thanks. I will be in REI next week and will give this one a good look over. Though with the annual REI anniversary sale going on I might just stick with the Sahara.
Does anyone have experience with the Patagonia Cool Daily long sleeve hoody on the Camino?
Last summer on the Norte I wore the REI Sahara long sleeve t-shirt and while I liked it I found it a bit heavy for summer and a bit stinky and slow drying.
As I get ready for another summer Camino I am...
I always use Vodafone. It's very cheap and offers a lot of data. There are a few shops in San Sebastian. Make sure they bring their passports with them and that their phone is unlocked.
Umbrellas are also great for the city after your walking day is done. I am a poncho wearer but I find them to be less practical walking to a restaurant or grocery store etc.
No need for an additional pair of shoes - your altras and Chacos will be sufficient (I only bring Chacos with me, for everything).
One thing about waiting to see if you need trekking poles, some of the hardest sections and that where it's most beneficial to have poles (for the downhill) are at...
I just finished the CN. I started in Irun and only wore hiking sandals (Chacos), which I had previously worn so I knew would be comfortable for long distances. There were a few days I in the first week where I had to go slow and be careful because the sandals didn't provide much support on...
Agreed about BC being most popular on the Norte. I had it but mainly used Wise for my day to day. I prefer the layout and more indepth info/comments about the places walked through. I do however like the stage planner in the BC (I believe this is a paid feature).
Mapy.cz proved to be the most...
I have been using the Anker Soundcore A10 Sleepbuds. They are pricey and will need to be recharged everyday but have found them to be really great. They are tiny so they don't cause any pain in my ears (I am a side/stomach sleeper) and can be programmed to play a variety of sounds. They have a...
It works in the background to track your route but you need an internet connection to produce the video. When you make the video it goes through all of your r photos for the walk and asks which ones you want to include. It's pretty easy to use.
A few days ago I set out from Irun on the Norte route with 4 tracking apps going. Needless to say battery life was tight.
In the end I decided to go with the Relive app because it provided all the stats I wanted but also turns the route into a 3D map which I think is cool, esp on such a hilly...
Last year I met a pilgrim who was very proud of the fact that he was doing the whole thing off line without relying on the internet. Of course he had no problems asking me to look up stuff for him on my phone. :)
Which is just to say while I appreciate it might be better without an app it isn't...
Hi-
Any recommendations for an android app that can track and provide a daily report of my progress? I don't need it for on the go mapping just something at the end of the day that can generate a graph with the elevation profile for the day, distance walked, elevation gained and time etc...
Take a look at Topo brand shoes, which have a bit more cushioning along with a wide toe box. They didn't work with my feet but there are many positive reviews for them.
