I’m used one fur clean clothes / one for dirty that doubled as a washing machine / small one for electricals plus one for waterproofs. Tgd dry clothes one was biggest at 5 litre
Agree, at a point they just die and you can’t get the smell out. Merino all the way for me, appreciate they aren’t as robust , are more expensive but worth the money
I like Altra, no blisters , no ankle pain, just a good trainer, not the most robust but I like the feel of them. Lone peak don’t have a lot of cushioning but no probs
That’s what I wore , first pair fell to bits after 800km , second pair lasted until Fisterre. The soles on the first pair separated from the shoes at the heel, but can’t complain , nada blisters.

I have rain jacket and trousers, have worn both . Everything goes into dry bags so not too bothered about covering rucksack. I find ponchos too billowy in the wind and prefer to have sleeves
