Have albergues stopped providing blankets since 2019?

In the covid years, blankets had to be washed after each use, officially. You can imagin that is was not attractive for albergues to provide them. As far as I know, this rule does not exist anymore

Troubleshooting why kml files were not loading in mapping apps

Hi Gerald, Great resource! Just one thing: as far as I know maps.me itself is not an open source app. Please consider to recommend organic maps. It is made by the original makers of maps.me, looks the same in many ways, but not commercial, open source and with no trackers. For me the perfect...

Troubleshooting why kml files were not loading in mapping apps

Ho Morero, when I read your first message again it was completely clear that you did find the solution. It was all my 'trying to read too fast'.

Troubleshooting why kml files were not loading in mapping apps

On Iphones it is sometimes indeed more difficult to download the kml files into an app. On the site of the Dutch Confranternity of Saint James there is a special manual for I phones. It is in Dutch but i suppose you can translate it...

    Organic maps question

Sorry for the confusion I gave. 'Start button' was indeed the 'star button' I see your pictures. It is very strange that yoou do not see the 'import bookmarks' button. On this picture you see how it looks like on my phone, in Dutch it is called 'Bladwijzers importeren'. Can it be that your...

    Organic maps question

Just a first check: did you dowload the KML file? Then Rick reminded me (thanks Rick!) on the possibility in organic maps to load tracks directed form the app (in maps.me this was not possible) Soon I want to update the manual on this. If you click the start button and then go to the bottom. You...

    Organic maps question

With Iphones it sometimes is indeed different. It is still not clear with what IPhones it is different. I hope this helps. If not, let me know. After downloading: - At the top right of the window appears when the download is complete a circle with an arrow downwards, click on this; - In this...

Organic Maps as a replacement for Maps.me

There were other sources that led me to writing about the Russian connection. But you are right, I cannot proof it. So I took that part out.

Organic Maps as a replacement for Maps.me

Hi Jeff, it seems like it depends what you want to delete. Bookmarks indeed you can delete one by one. If you would like to specific tracks (like one in the 'all spanish caminos' from the Dutch Confraternity) it seems like you cannot. Or maybe you found out already a way to do it... ;-) Nice...

Organic Maps as a replacement for Maps.me

Many pilgrims use the app 'Maps.me' (with tracks added) to find their way on their camino's. For a few reasons there is another app which looks and works like maps.me, but has some extra advantages: Organic Maps. 'Organic Maps' is like a copy of Maps.me. It was split from Maps.me and further...

Can I use a liner only?

A sleeping bag makes you more independent of temperatures, kind of albergues and hospitalero´s.

Women over 60 who DON'T take a sleeping bag...

According to the current corona rules every blanket needs to be washed after every use. For most albergues this will be not possible to do. So some albergues might still offer blankets (for an extra price) but I suppose most albergues will just not offer them any more. So it might be better not...

    Peter Robins

Except This resource there are also this resource (for the Netherlands), this one for Portugal, this one for Belgium and this one for France. Do I carry a sleeping bag or an ultra light liner bag ?

I would say anything is fine, but opinions about this will differ. If it would be too cold you can always wear some extra clothes and/or put your jacket on top of the sleeping bag. And if it seems like freezing the first night, buy something cheap in Grado!

Do I carry a sleeping bag or an ultra light liner bag ?

By the end of your camino some albergues might be closed which means you need to go to municipals/xunta albergues. In these albergues there are often no blankets, and sometimes also no heating. I would take a good sleeping bag. When I did the Portugese in november/december two years ago, I also...
