Powder shampoo - this looks like it would be great for the Camino

I use a shampoo bar too. Works very well, even wash my clothes with it

    HELP! (Shoe advice) April 2020

I'd definitely avoid Goretex unless you want feel like this...

    Absolute Bare Minimum Packing List

Eeek! Last time I checked NZ had one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world - not sure this backs up your immunity theory!

    Absolute Bare Minimum Packing List

I can see why most pilgrims over pack now judging by some of the items on this list!! I would only add a mobile phone and charger.

    Umbrellas

One of my main pieces of kit on any hike, whether wilderness or camino-like! Sun and rain so dual purpose too. Always carry an ultra-light umbrella anyway, so it's worth the extra grams. Does away with needing one of those big ponchos too.

    Pillow

I carry an ultralight Sea 2 Summit inflatable pillow because I get a sore neck if the pillows are night the right height. Pillows in Spain can be very narrow and high too so I'd definitely recommend taking your ien if you have neck issues.

    2020 GPS APPs

Highly recommend the Windy Maps app that's available on Google Play. It actually has all the caminos marked and saved my bacon a few times on the VDLP. It's free too. Absolutely no need to pay for any apps when there is so much information available for free. I use a combination of Gronze.com...

Best Sellers in Portable Cell Phone Power Banks

I have always bought Anker power banks, usually from Amazon. They have been consistently awesome and highly recommend them for weight and power. I have recently upgraded to a 15,000 MaH one and it charges my phone over 4 times. Other power banks that I have bought have not charged things as...

    Frame vs Frameless

I have the Osprey Exos 58 (admittedly too big for most people but I see the 48 a lot on caminos) and it has a frame but I have regretted buying it. The webbing has already split and the backpack never stands up on it's own, which I actually find very annoying! I prefer my Talon 46 which is an...

    Clothes lines

I usually have a clothes line. I have one from one of those £ or $ etc shops - very lightweight and doesn't need pegs either as you twist the clothes into the line, if that makes sense! I recall using it quite a bit on the Frances route, particularly as I usually end up being one of the last...

Cellular Signal on the Via de la Plata

I had a Vodafone simcard and rarely had no signal. I also managed to get a fantastic deal of 8GB for EUR15 as a new customer! Cannot remember any albergues that didn't have wifi either!

    End of the day sandals

I was a big fan of Crocs, but I dont hike with them anymore because they are too bulky and a little heavy too. I use Flippers brand flip flops/jandals because they are feather light, even more than Haviannas. The most important thing for me is to be able to slip on any night footwear without...

Couple Morning Routine while Camping and Hiking the Camino

How easy was it to find camping spots?

    Psst.... Aussies, did you know????

Decathlon gear is actually great if you don't intend to use it long term, although they do stock some quality brands too. I think their real value is the very cheap hiking poles that can be pretty much given away at the end of a hike. This means flying hand luggage only is a possibility, and...

A new pack that could be a Camino fav!

Looks ok but Ospreys still rule, particularly their new ultra light range.
