    Bladder vs water bottle

On my CdN in summer 2017 I had a 1.5L bladder and on my CF this year I had a aluminium bottle with a 'straw head' such that I could sip as I went, as one does with a bladder. I'll never walk a Camino without the ability to sip as I walk, regardless of the time of year, plus unless your pack...

The Lush shampoo bar review thread

Sorry to be THAT person, but can any European recommend a shampoo bar that is curly girl approved (or at least that doesn't contain sulphates)? I used Godiva by Lush last time and I LOVED a bar shampoo for the weight reduction but found that it wrecked my hair. Two washes with normal shampoo...

What did you forget that you would bring with you the second time?

This is on my list of things-I-brought-and-won't-do-without. I took a Sarong that I could make into a dress by tying the corners around my neck and close in the front with the string I brought as an emergency clothes line. It wasn't high fashion but man-oh-man, I loved having it! I had 'evening...

What did you forget that you would bring with you the second time?

I'm sensitive to most grains so I ended up self-catering about 85% of my meals, no small feat on the CdN where there are few kitchens! I however got this amazing collapsing 'Tupperware' before I left home that was sturdy enough to protect fruit and hardy enough to keep my cheese, fuet, nuts and...

Silk liner or sleeping bag, sun hat or umbrella?

You're the one who asked what people on VdP do...;) Where the heck did you find a sleeping bag that light??? My fleecy winter duvet covers run at around 380g... I also must admit, as someone with so much Camino experience, having done 2+ already, I'm confused as to why you're asking these...

Silk liner or sleeping bag, sun hat or umbrella?

Fair enough, it rained 60% of my way from Hendaye and Ribadeo. On the days in between it was fiendishly hot, so I got the worst of both. My poncho was my most valuable and most used item of clothing after my trusty socks, and I'll never try doing a camino without one. On the hot days, I did...

    Sleeping Bag Liner

Just a random little thing, but this really caught me on my Norte last year. I was too cold in the summer, wh8ch sucked, but more than that, I wished I had known how much I hated the feeling of silk on my skin before I bought a silk sack. I got bed bugs once, on the one night I *DIDN'T* use the...

Silk liner or sleeping bag, sun hat or umbrella?

After finishing my Norte last summer, I would say: (insert Godfather voice here:) take the sleeping bag, leave the umbrella. A hat (with a wide brim, or better -IMHO- a baseball cap and milti-funct. bandana/tube bandana) is more than enough.

What did you forget that you would bring with you the second time?

It's stupid, but I started developing stupidly thick skin on my feet after about 5 days that would itch a fright at night. The body's natural callus-building response, I suppose. I'll never do a Camino without a callus cutter again. I ended up buying one in Gijón in despiration - 11€!!!!! Where...

    Do It Yourself Guidebook

This is exactly my plan. I'll be backing it up on Google Drive, such that if something does go unfortunately and spectacularly south, I can find an internet cafe somewhere in the next bigger city and print the thing.

Advice On Sleeping Bag Alternative Please

My plan is to sew poppers onto the inside hems of my silk liner and sew the other side onto a decathlon microfibre blanket such that I can add an extra layer if I need it.

July Pilgrims: Anyone Ever Walked In Stockings?

More like: But with a thinner material and weave. On another note: I guess they could be great for compression purposes too ;)

July Pilgrims: Anyone Ever Walked In Stockings?

Hi all, I'm planning a Norte from mid-July to late August and am anticipating it to be quite warm. I'm an African child so I'm not all that concerned about living with the heat but I am concerned about sunburn in the height of summer as my legs seem to be fairer than the rest of me and burn...
