I walked September/ October. It was hot! Cooler and mistakes in Galicia but never very cold. I took 1 set of uniqlo thermals which I slept in twice in a cold night, and 1 light uniqlo puffy jacket which weighs nothing. 2 pairs of 3/4 pants and 2 cotton shirts. Took a poncho but you sweat so...
I have narrow feet but found Keens Targhee to be perfect. They are a wide shoe but the extra space around the toes helped with blister prevention. I wore a pair of cheap elastic ankle supports and thick socks for a snug fit around ankles.
ALDI sells honey in a plastic bottle with a squirty top. I use it filled with water to remove dirt that collects in sliding door runners. That should work well.
My thoughts are that if you need to break in shoes, they are the wrong ones. I think you should be able to find a pair that feel good as soon as you try them on. The first time I wore my Keens was walking onto the airplane. No problems, no blisters.
I am 154cm tall, weigh 58kg. I used a 28l Katmandu pack and it was fine. Only problem was that I had to strap my sleeping bag to the outside of the pack. I walked Sept until mid Oct and it was mostly hot with no heavy rain. A bit of misty rain in Galicia. I took a light Uniqlo down jacket and it...
Sleeping bag. Such a luxury to snuggle achy muscles into. A liner doesn't cut it. Also a pillow case - bright red do I don't leave it behind . Hate those paper pillow cases. Stuffed my jacket in it on the plane for an extra cushion.
I slept in undies and tshirt with leggings if cold. It's dark at night, no one is looking at you, and no-one cares. You will see more scantily clad males and females to last a lifetime! Most pilgrims are too tired to bother about other pilgrims' night attire.
I belong to a hiking/ bushwalking group so still use boots, poles and backpack. I didn't take "special" clothes when I walked, just ordinary every day stuff which has either worn out or I'm still wearing.
