I usually go to the bathroom at least once a night, and try to do it quietly. In regards to sleep, I use silicone ear plugs and melatonin. You need to start using melatonin beforehand as it takes a while for it to be effective.
I wore Merrell's for the wide toe box; however, I don't think there was enough sole support. My whole foot ached each morning and even when I finished first thing in the morning the soles of my foot hurt on hitting the ground. I agree some form of gel soles is what I will be adding to my shoes...
I found the foam ear plugs didn't help. Get some silicone ones. Only a couple of euros, and you might be able to make new friends as I gave some to another pilgrim who also didn't find the foam ones working.
sorry, that might work for you but I doubt it will work for most people.
I did see the Merrell Siren Strap in store but I purchased the Teva Sandborn because there were fewer straps that could rub my foot. I have wide feet. Other than that they appear to be similar. I will test my sandals on a one day walk in the next month or so.
Any women reading this post and walked in sandals, which brand were they? Did they have a closed toe in case you hit a rock?
I took a pair of Teva Tirra with me but didn't walk in them because I didn't want to carry my Merrells. I have just bought Teva Universal Sandborn sandals but I don't...
If you have the time take a couple of days off after arriving in Europe flight before you commence walking. I flew into Paris and spent three days there and did a lot of walking, I then took the train to Bayonne and spent another two nights. I then took the train to SJPDP and commenced walking...
I think I also had plantar fascitis. I haven't seen a doctor or podiatrist but exercised and the heel is better. I am planning on a 20km walk soon, when weather improves and walking the camino again in 2020. Next time, I will be doing foot exercises every night and day.
I noticed after a couple of weeks of walking that my second smallest toe was aching. I kept thinking I had a blister but no. The underside of the toe appeared swollen and white and when walking hurt as it moved around in my shoe. So I taped it up. I finished walking two months ago, and while the...
thank you all, Do you think that carrying the backpack was a contributing cause. My pack initially weighed 11kgs, I eventually posted 2 kgs to Santiago and got rid of more stuff. However with water I was carrying more than 10% of my body weight. Ps iPad was the main problem.
Both feet, I started noticing heel problems by about week 3. I should have bought some gel inserts, although not sure that my Merrells would accommodate them. Tiptoes are ok, I think.
While in NZ in December, I came across a travel magazine with an article about the Camino. The article started off, 'But first, buy a pack of lady's stockings.' Apparently you wear the stockings under a pair of socks, and hikers swear by it. Anyone heard of this?
