Travel Medical Insurance: Do. Get. It.

I agree - but I hope that companies don't start with requiring a copy of travel insurance. Not everyone can get insurance - my partner can't because of what turned out to be a broken heart valve which has just been surgically repaired. I am very curious to see if he can get travel insurance in...

Travel Medical Insurance: Do. Get. It.

Ok in my part of the world when we say travel insurance we mean insurance that covers medical, evac, loss of deposits, theft, liability etc etc . Unfortunately you can’t buy just the medical and evac cover

Travel Medical Insurance: Do. Get. It.

No it’s not - it covers medical and evacuation which is critical for non eu walkers - I agree none of the rest of the benefits matter

Travel Medical Insurance: Do. Get. It.

I’m a kiwi too. Frankly travel insurance is not for a sprained ankle or similar. That’s small change My partner collapsed in China - 3 weeks in China hospital plus a private jet evac to Beijing plus business class home / I’m guessing to cost them around $100k - our insurance was around $1000...

    Credit-Card Health Insurance

This is the case for all travel insurance. We made a medivac claim in China, and the company wouldn’t confirm cover until they could call his gp on Monday morning. It was a long couple of days, and I needed the cash to get my partner admitted , and started making arrangement ps if I had to...

Take medical records and lists of any medications

My health is fine, but my partner has cardiac issues, after being hospitalised in China I now make sure I carry his list of prescriptions and a copy of his last specialist report - he knew what drugs he was on and why, but I had no idea about the details, when he was out of it I was scrambling...

    Torn Meniscus Experience

Robo I’ve dropped 12 kg in the last 18 months and the difference in my arthritic knees is amazing. I still need to drop another 10kg before a cami is next year. Look at Pilates too - is really good for strengthening all your muscles and completes low impact

    Trip insurance

Prepaid expenses are a minor consideration. - it’s medical that costs and repatriation. We typically pay around $700 us for my partner to get insurance to cover pre existing health. I am yet to find any coverage for this trip - probably because it’s so long.

Cautionary tale of the importance of travel insurance!

The reason they are cheap is that they have this huge loophole in their policies. They don't cover pre-existing conditions - except for the normal low risk list that everyone covers. This from their fine print If you have a pre-existing medical condition that is not covered, we will not pay...

That sounds reasonable - plenty of evidence on Youtube to be found LOL Or a link to this forum!

Cautionary tale of the importance of travel insurance!

@nidarosa I will if I manage to find anyone who will cover his cardiac issues at all - I just got 42 days in Asia with an extra premium - but I think the longer time frame in Europe is the problem. I very much doubt that the 1000m exclusion would stand up in NZ insurance ombusdman with...

Cautionary tale of the importance of travel insurance!

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is - that if you can make sure you have a credit card or two with a high limit on it. My partner collapsed in China - and they needed cash (yes folding stuff) up front, and then later more money which I did get them to accept an international card. The...

    Chiropractic vs Physio

Never heard of it either - but I was curious and went for a Google - found this http://www.treaotearoa.co.nz/about-2/core-release-exercises/ sounds a bit like you - that site has some videos with exercises - could be worth a look?

    Chiropractic vs Physio

I can't answer your question re chiropractic but try some Pilates classes- the ones I go to is run by an (ex) physio who is adamant that if people did Pilates and the specific exercises she does for hips then there would be far fewer hip replacement operations. In fact maybe get a private lesson...
