I probably won’t do this again

    Ooops!!

I probably won’t do this again

Sounds reasonable. But I did my purgatory when I was younger and now I love a little more luxury. It doesn't reduce the level of fun or enjoyment. I am glad there is a solution for everyone ha ha!

I probably won’t do this again

Somehow I gather you are not a senior hiker! Pretty funny. But I wouldn't recommend walking the Portugal camino in the moonlight as the uneven cobblestones would be very, very dangerous Once in Spain though, the going is easier. You certainly took this annoyance gracefully!

I probably won’t do this again

Just your handle "Dancing Rain" is enough to tell me you are a happy person..ha! The glass is always half full. You probably stand in front of the mirror every morning and say positive affirmations to yourself (and that is OK!) You are the perfect person for the Camino. I myself would go stark...

I probably won’t do this again

My husband and I, age 66 and 69, did our first camino ever on the Costa Portugale in March of this year (2019). Fortunately, neither of us snore, but at our age, we never, ever considered sharing sleeping facilities dormitory-style because after all, we have to make sure we get a good sleep if...

    An unusual medical ailment

OMG!!! I am sorry you've had to endure this malady, but actually it's not all that uncommon when traveling in these areas! I worked in the medical field and know about it. But you are very brave indeed. I am not so sure I would have had the courage to start the walk. Good luck!!!

70 Year Old Mother Who Bruises Easily

Is your mom on any anticoagulants like the blood thinner Warfarin? Also, long-term steroids can cause this. If on meds, she needs monthly labs done. However, if she isn't, you could have her doctor run PT and PTT labs to make sure she is in the normal range of clotting. If she is, then she...

    Shoulder Strap Irritation

It was suggested to me to go to an autoshop that sells car supplies and buy those sheepskin seatbelt covers. I haven't tried it but it sounds like it might work!

Severe joint and muscle pain post Camino Frances

The article is very helpful and so appreciated it. I'm getting worked up and it helped me sort out so much and clarify my symptoms so hopefully it will be easier to figure it all out!

New Knees - User Experiences Please

Knee replacements are miracles most of the time! I've been a nurse for years and have talked with a lot of patients and friends and relatives who had them done, often both at once. Most people do extremely well and return to all of their previous activities within 2-3 months. However, one...

Severe joint and muscle pain post Camino Frances

Tigermike, I just sent you a reply further down because I hadn't read all the other entries you had made since your original one. However, I would sincerely request you ask your rheumatologist if you could have PMR Polymyalgia Rheumatica! It sounds textbook to me and I have it. Read my entry...

Severe joint and muscle pain post Camino Frances

Mike, 18 months ago I got the same symptoms as you! Your description is textbook for me. I had just returned from a trek in Nepal. With your CRP elevated (and likely sed rate too but not always), you could have what is called Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR). The best thing about it is, it is NOT a...
