LIVE from the Camino Caryn on the Aragonés

Magwood, the local train to Canfranc stops in Huesca. No need to go back to Zaragosa.

    Aragones / Invierno advice, please

I walked the Aragones starting April 21, 2023 from Canfranc Station. The first day it rained heavily all morning. I never had another drop of rain until I was past Logrono. Last year, another poster said there was snow at the beginning of April. It was all gone by the time I arrived. The...

    Transport Paris to Somport/Camino Aragones

If you've got so much time to plan, and getting to Madrid from Australia is as easy as Paris, why not fly to Madrid. Train from Atocha in Madrid via Zaragosa is super easy - about 6 hours. Last spring there were 2 trains a day. As someone mentioned, it leaves you off at Canfranc Station. A local...

LIVE from the Camino Caryn on the Aragonés

Lianna, I had a similar experience. In April there were very few pilgrims, and no native English speakers, except in a cafe in Canfranc (and they weren't pilgrims). My Spanish improved immensely. There's no other choice but to practice your Spanish. Keep on loving it! Buen Camino.

LIVE from the Camino Caryn on the Aragonés

I'm finding this thread very interesting. I walked the Aragones last April and except for the variants to the Javier Castle and Lumbier, was unaware of the route north of Yesa. I walked Foz de Lumbier early on a Sunday morning., and stayed at the hotel in Lumbier...very nice. The Foz is...

LIVE from the Camino Caryn on the Aragonés

Thanks Vacajoe. If I remember correctly, there aren't any services between Arress and Artieda...I guess whichever way you go. It's a beautiful walk, but as you say very quiet. I don't think I saw one car, except off in the distance on the major highway. It was like having the whole valley all to...

Vacajoe, where did you find out about the variant? I was following the route in Gronze. As far as I could tell, Gronze doesn't show it.

LIVE from the Camino Caryn on the Aragonés

Caryn, thanks for sharing your experiences on the Camino Aragones. I walked it in late April from Canfranc Station. There is very little information about it, even on this forum. So everything you write will be helpful to someone. I am in the process of writing a book about my experience on...

    Sunset on the Aragonés

Arres is a wonderful place. I was there in late April. I got the tour, but no pictures of the sunset. I have however attached a photo of the road leading out of Arres shortly after sunrise, about 7:15.

    Aragones backwards?

I walked the Aragones in April. I'm a slow walker and usually get passed all the time by others. I actually saw more people walking the Aragones in reverse (one on his way to Rome) than I did walking toward SdC. Several started on the Frances and told me it was too crowded for them. The Way is...

Vacajoe, thanks for the detailed report. Leaving for Spain and the Aragones in 2 weeks!!!

    Aragones in early April

I will be starting the Aragones around April 22. Taking the train from Madrid via Zaragosa to Canfranc Station. I'll be taking the bus the next morning from CF Station to Somport to start the Camino (weather and trail conditions permitting). I found the following bus schedule a few weeks ago...

    My Aragones July 2022

I'm not sure the bus from Jaca to the monastery is running anymore. I've been trying to find info too. For a good description of the walk up the hill to the monastery see the video on Youtube on the Nadine Walks channel. It looks pretty difficult. Coming downhill from the monastery I've read...

    My Aragones July 2022

Thanks for telling your story. I'm soaking up any info I can get on the route. Have been using Gronze, but here isn't much out there. I am planning to walk the Aragones alone next spring using the same itinerary as you did. The official stage between Sanguesa and Monreal concerns me. There's an...
