    Heat waves...walking in August.

I walked from Le Puy to Santiago in 2023, starting Aug 10. The second week was very hot. In addition to the usual advice about plenty of fluids, taking breaks, proper clothing, etc, I began my days at 6:00 a.m. and was usually finished by noon. Pack a headlamp for walking in the dark. After...

    Excellent gîte in La Clauze

That's the number I used to reach Jean Luc. I recall Jean Luc saying he closes in winter because of little traffic, so he may not have reopened yet for the season.

Timing a Le Puy GR65 Trek

I departed Le Puy 10 August and arrived SJPdP 11 September in 31 stages, including the Rocamadour variant (great!). I booked ahead a few days, generally with demi pension. I had two instances of a gite being fully booked when I called but had no problem finding something else. Several were full...

Heat Wave warning France, August 2023

I walked Rocamadour to Labastide-Murat today with no problems. Lovely countryside. The usual recommendations apply: start early, drink plenty. For me, it’s important to keep moving. Too many breaks add up to more time in the heat at the end. Of course, take a break when you need it. I left...

Couple of things on the Rocamadour variant

Thanks, walked it today with no problems. Left Rocamadour at 6:00 am to get ahead of the heat, so I needed my headlamp for about an hour. Arrived Labastide-Murat at 11:20 am.

I’ll be overnighting in Lectoure 31 August. Better weather, I hope.

Couple of things on the Rocamadour variant

First, I walked from Figeac to Thémines on 20 August and turned out to be longer than I expected, 35 km. The gîte owner in Thémines said the GR6 was re-routed in the last year to reduce road walking, which added 4 km. Quite a bit of climbing on that route. Second, I walked to Rocamadour today...

    Excellent gîte in La Clauze

Jean Luc is reached at +33 06 65 50 30 51. Try WhatsApp. They’re right on the Way in the center of the village, just past the water trough.

    Excellent gîte in La Clauze

My second day on the Podiensis brought me to Les Rochers de La Clauze, right on the Way and run by the delightful Jean Luc and Marie. They’re not in Wise Pilgrim, the Cicerone book, and Buen Camino. I was referred by a nearby Chambre owner who was full. Les Rochers is a donativo, modern, clean...

payment by credit card in gites on the Podiensis

The last thread on this topic that I see is from several years ago. What is the current situation for payment by credit cards in gites along the Chemin Le Puy? I've been studying the Cicerone guide, which often does not include the Cr symbol and wonder if that's accurate and most don't accept...

    Camino Le Puy video

I love, love, love your videos. Separating them into short videos instead of one long one was easier for me to watch them. The route was so beautiful! I was planning to walk from Vezelay all the way to Santiago over 12 weeks in 2023, but now I'm wondering if I should take the Chemin du Puy...
