Favourite towns and sights between Cahors and SJPP

I found reference to it on the SNCF site but not an actual timetable, but it should be reasonably easy to dig up on the usual online places. Places are reasonably well serviced in the area; travellers are quite lucky. Early autumn should be a lovely time of year to visit the Célé valley! How...

Favourite towns and sights between Cahors and SJPP

There seems to be an occasional local bus that runs towards Pau and goes via Condom, so if time needed to made up, this could to opportune place to make it. But I imagine that the sight of the looming Pyrenees gets the blood pumping in the morning! Just Google Mapped Saint-Palais; would be...

    Lepuy on a low budget

Wow. WOW. This is nasty and, frankly, bizarre. I have no idea what your problem is with me nor why you deem I deserve that sort of treatment by other members of the forum. And now nationalistic insults and further coercive taunts! "Me and the rest of the site against you" - really...

    Lepuy on a low budget

Me neither. This thread has plunged down the rabbit hole. But perhaps because Thornley continually demands where Oz could receive similar service hiking from Sydney to Melbourne (which has nothing to do with anything. Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in the world.) and the Bibulmum...

    Lepuy on a low budget

He described the troubles on his journey. You are grateful for the joys on yours. You had two different experiences. His statement reflects his experience, not yours. I really do not understand why everyones' experiences cannot be accepted by you as distinct and that they co-exist in...

    Lepuy on a low budget

Why judge Oztrekker at all? Again, one man's experience is not everyone else's. I do not judge his experience any more than I judge yours. That the vast majority experienced this walk in positively and he did not does not mean he deserves to be lectured on his bad travel attitude and does not...

    Lepuy on a low budget

Totally understand and appreciate where you are coming from and your posts in general, Thornley, but that line made me cringe. But I don't feel Oztrekker is showing ingratitude to share negative feelings about any aspect of his journey. Our own relationships with money and food and hospitality...

    Lepuy on a low budget

And the second town, Oz? Always looking for a coffee recommendation, am I.

Favourite towns and sights between Cahors and SJPP

I'm very pleased with your responses. From a logistical standpoint they are generally between 2o and 25km apart with the odd 15km and 30km day makes for a very nice plan of easy walking! Now the post Condom/Larressingle route into Duck Country and beyond. Any suggestions (for avoidance, even)...

Favourite towns and sights between Cahors and SJPP

I've focused so much on this part of my journey that I all but ignored the second! Moissac, I believe is very nice just from the prettiness of the word, and Condom's Armagnac museum has my name on it. Any favourite towns or must sees from my intrepid GR-65ers?

First day from Le Puy -- via Bain vs GR 65 through St Christophe

You're totally selling this to me. This sounds like a Benny Hill movie!

First day from Le Puy -- via Bain vs GR 65 through St Christophe

@Lori Butler @SYates - oh, good. I do not wish to slander that good man's name. The Bains/St-Christophe touristic battle is quite funny! @mla1 - cheers for that blog link @DLJ - pizza is always welcome. Carb loading is so important for the pilgrim.

A short jaunt on the Le Puy route, or, can I out slow-walk Rob?

@falcon269 - Cheers for the transport info. @David - Condom with its Armagnac museum? That town has my name all over it! @TMcA - Aumont-Aubrac to Decazeville/Figeac seems to be my choice thus far. The landscape seems varied and fantastic to look at. Considering it will be early May, given...

A short jaunt on the Le Puy route, or, can I out slow-walk Rob?

Before walking from SJPP to Santiago in 2016, I will walk some of the Le Puy route immediately prior - partly to prepare myself for walking in Spain, partly because of the landscape, partly because of the enthusiasm of you good people here and partly because I was given a French language course...

First day from Le Puy -- via Bain vs GR 65 through St Christophe

There is a warning about this guy? As I'm a girl walking solo, I might give the Bains route a miss!

First day from Le Puy -- via Bain vs GR 65 through St Christophe

So glad you posted this! Never walked a Camino, but I was looking at the Bains route to Fay, because the walk of the good reviews Bains and the Gite du Velay received, and because the walk seems prettier/shorter around to the Lac d'Oeuf area. There's a nifty path across a field where the Bains...

    Le Puy in May

Another late April/early May Question: There seems a great variety of spring weather on the Le Puy route. In the interest of lightening the load, could a sleeveless thin fleece vest suffice instead of a long sleeve fleece? (Will obs take some sort of overjacket.)

    'wild' swims

Oh, great thread! I'd love some recommendations for swimming. Although recommendations for clear streams to cool my feet are equally desirable Not exactly on the route, and I have no idea if it's a do or a dud, but if you're up for a day trip Lac du Moulinet seems to be about 9km from...

    Figeac to Rocamadour by train

Is there anything worth seeing on the way to Roc or just past it?

Walking from Le Puy in April

In such conditions, how many layers would you wear?
