Le Puy to Conques - May 6, 2023 start

Why not have a look at www.gronze.com to see where you could stop your day. I have walked twice and would recommend your last proposal. I used 10 -11 walkdays. I recommend that you prebook your stay - and your meals. Your gite might be the only place to get some food in the village you stay, and...

    Via Podiensis

I have not walked it “ the wrong way”, most people walk from Le Puy en Velay to SJPdP. but the best scenery is from Le Puy to Conques in my opinion. June might be the enjoying of sunfloweracres at the start, I always lost them, walking in May or September. I guess June might be a busy month...

Fear of heights and the Way from Le Puy

Quiet road from Saint -Privat to Monistrol, met only a couple of cars. Better view than on the camino, but you loose the little chapel , which was closed when I walked past on my first walk in 2009.

Fear of heights and the Way from Le Puy

On my second walk from Le Puy, in spring, 2013, I took the road from Saint-Privat dÁllier to Monistrol, because I remembered the steep climb down from the chapel, which even on a dry , hot day in August 2009, was difficult but not scary. The road was quiet, with nice view to the river, nice...

    Sending luggage to Santiago

Why do you have to send a suitcase? Send a parcel and if you really need a suitcase, buy a cheep one in Santiago. By the way I sent a parcel from the postoffice in Le Puy to the poste restante/ lista the correos in Santaigo some hears ago(2009) and it never showed up in Santiago. Two years later...

    Le Puy route.

Remember that path well, my first time on a dry path in August-11. Bad enough then, so the next time, May-13, very wet and muddy, I took the road from Saint-Privat dÁllier to Monistrol. Quiet road with the river down below, only met a few cars. Pleasant walk.

Le Puy en Velay in March 2020

I have walked from Le Puy in middle of August and in early May and the difference was big. August 2009, dry paths and nice walking conditions, early May 2013, wet, cold, muddy, chose the road several places where I knew the path might be difficult. I guess if I walked again I would never choose...

    August on Le Puy?

I agree that the miam dodo is the best . I’ve tried that + the Cicerone guide in English and the yellow German Outdoor guide and different maps as well. The first one is best for accomodation++, you really do not need a map, the route is well marked and had become better since my first walk.

    August on Le Puy?

In 2009 I started from Le Puy 15.08. The paths were dry and easywalking, warm sunny weather until the last two days in France, when there was some rain. Arrived in Roncesvalles 19.09 and in Santiago 20.10. I have some years later walked from Le Puy in early May. (2013) A very cold spring, wet...

    Weather

My first GR 65 started from Le Puy 15.08.09. Nice weather until I reached St. Jean Pied du Port when it started raining. Cannot remember it was too hot. Blackberries along the route and the paths were dry and easywalking. Lots of people. My next start from Le Puy was in the beginning of May...

Le Puy to Conques in October - Trip Report

I do not think I got any breakfast until 07.30 or 08.00, breakfast most often white bread, jam, coffee/tea. If you stay in a town with a bakery, they often opens at 7.00 . Not many bars along the way, food is mostly only served in lunchtime from 12.30 - 14.00. other times - no food until...

    Transport from Conques to Toulouse

Some years ago I took the schoolbus early in the morning from Conques to the nearest railwaystation in Rodez, I think, and from there took a train onwards. It was not far by bus but it took a couple of hours stopping here and there. The touristoffice in Conques will inform you. I think there was...

¿When go to see the sunflowers¿

Thanks, I thought June would be the time, but then I would miss it again. The van Goghs in the Prado, Tincatinker, made me only more wanting to enjoy on the real flowering, so I guess I must try out the heat in July , worst mosquito period in the north of Norway by the way.

¿When go to see the sunflowers¿

I have walked from Le Puy in August and in May and also from Moissac in May hoping to see sunflowersacres, but they were either dead in September or small plants in May. On my first walk on GR 65 arriving in SJPdP late September the last part was boring in my opinion with dead acres of corn or...

    Le Puy Route in September

Walking the Le Puy to Santiago in 2009 from 15.08, and some later years in parts, I would say that the first two weeks in France was the best. The last part in France was a bit boring because of autumn with dead corn acres and sunfloweracres. I went to le Puy from CdG airport in in Paris by...

Questions about Le Puy Route (July 2017)

I went Le Puy - SdC in 2009, starting mid August, in goretex joggesko. I managed with them but on stony paths I felt almost every stone through the sole. I have been back on the French route twice, then in lightweight boots with a stiff soles, not mountain boots, and that felt better. As...

Accommodation recommendations GR65 Le Puy to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port ...

Near Mas- de-Vers, a days walk before Cahors is a very nice gite, Gite de Poudally. They served a good common meal in the evening and my best breakfast at any gite with homebaked cereal bread, homemade youghurt, cheese and jam also homemade. They made you a foodpacket for lunch too. Felt very...

Selection of unguided tour operator - Le Puy to Conques

If you can read Norwegian www.merlot.no offer what you are looking for, Le Puy - Nasbinal and Nasbinal -Conques is part 1 and 2 of their pilgrimsroadpackets. On my last walk there I met some people using this company who were satisfied with it. It is about 1200 euros for each person, so by...
