See the link provided above by trecile. We used a taxi service from Buiza to Poldura to Pajares to transport a couple of packs when one of us was ill last year. The hospitalero at Buiza had the telephone number -- I think the taxi came from Pola de Gordon.
Laurie, so interesting to see your comment. We did the 'behind and up' route last year in the sunshine (late May) and found it not bad at all. We found parts of the route between Pajares and Buenduenos far more challenging.
Interesting how we can all have such different impressions but I...
I walked last year with two other women. We had originally planned to do it over six days but circumstances allowed us to do it in nine and we were very happy with that choice. We stayed in Cabanillas, La Robla, Buiza, Poladura, Pajares (at a bar with rooms), Buendueños, Pola de Lena, and...
Last year when one of us was ill, we were able to get a taxi service to transfer packs from the albergue at Buiza to Poladura and then the following day to the albergue at Pajares. We did not stay at the Pajares albergue however. The hospitalero at Buiza had the telephone number.
Interesting! I don’t remember seeing that last year. But then the countryside is so gorgeous I suspect we were busy paying attention to other things. :)
After La Pola de Gordon, there is really no where to buy food until much further on. Buiza has no place to buy food but there is a kitchen in the albergue where you can cook if you bring food. Also if you are stopping in Poladura de la Tercia it is critical to call ahead a day in advance to...
You must have got through before the weather changed. We arrived in Oviedo on May 28th. We had gorgeous weather going the highest terrain but got hit a massive hail storm descending into Pajares. The rest of the trip we were trekking in rain gear through soggy, dripping and muddy terrain. That...
Hi Liana. I walked the Salvador a couple of weeks after Purky with two other Canadian peregrinas. Two of us are in our mid- fifties and one turned 60 ennroute. We took nine days to walk the Salvador and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a truly glorious experience being in those mountains. There...
Hi all. We finish the Salvador and want to celebrate with each getting our own room in a hotel or good Hostal. Does anyone have any recommendations? We would like to spend two nights in the city centre.
Hi Purky. We saw that little road too but after yesterday decided to go back into Herias and follow the Camino. In retrospect we probably should have taken it as that descent into Campomanes was really slippery in the rain. And I think we linked up with it near the last slope down to Campomanes...
Thank you, Laurie @peregrina2000. Ender was with us at Poladura and I surmised he wasn’t likely in the know about how bad the state of the path was because he didn’t mention it. He told the folks assembled that the route after Pajares was easier than the Poladura to Pajares section. We are in...
Hi all. A bunch of us are in Buendeuños this morning having walked the mountain route from Pajares and Poladura de Tercia. Just before Puente de Fierros there are arrows directing you up a steep grassy path into the mountains. It took us three and a half hours to negotiate this path of about 7...
Beautiful until today. We are in Pajares and there was a major thunder/ rainstorm this afternoon. We arrived in Pajares soaked to the skin. Weather forecast is showing rain over the next few days and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon in the Cordillera.
Sitting in the albergue at Poladura del Tercia this evening and Ender, author of the definitive guide to the Camino de San Salvador dropped in for a visit. He is presently advising a bunch of the Spanish speaking pilgrims about the next few days. From what I can understand he is advising those...

I also remember a washing machine in the cupboard to the right of the entrance. A high-speed spin helped get our stuff dry on a moist day.
Wish we had that today! Sadly no spin drying. Just drip.

We are three Canadian peregrinas from this forum in the La Robla albergue and everything seems fine. It appears that the door to the bunk room must have got jammed. Not sure why it would have been closed in the first place as that isn’t necessary. Almost full house tonight. Eight of us so far...
Thank you Purky. We are now three Canadian peregrinas sitting at dinner in Leon reading your posts. We start out on the Salvador in the morning. Your posts have been great.
