278 041 pilgrims got their Compostelas in 2016

Going to stick my neck right out there and forecast the next Holy Year will see 550,000+ compostelas being issued.

250,000 pilgrims in the year 2015

Assuming the maintained interest for whatever motivation in the Camino, then ultimately accommodation constrictions and bad word of mouth following on from that is likely to be the determining factor in peregrino, bikigrino and touregrino numbers. Taking the 2014 compostela figure as 237,810...

No more music in the Praza do Obridoiro???

I for one have enjoyed several late evenings listening to the 2 opera singers in the archway, they always finish up by midnight and it has been a lovely way of unwinding after collecting the compostela and eating dinner. :(

All the pilgrims numbers from Santiago 1 January - 31 August 2014

Not good enough! Even though I've managed 2 caminos this year, the Irish numbers are down - nothing else for it but to win the National Lottery and up my caminos to 12 next year. oh and bring 20 or 30 friends with me each time. ;)

    Botafumeiro at 7.30 pm mass

Finished my 3rd Camino on the Frances on the afternoon of Friday 13/6/14 and as I had brought a friend along on her 1st camino I thought it might be nice after collecting our compostelas, to bring her for a brief visit to the Cathedral on Friday evening before attending the Pigrim Mass at noon...

Amazing what us Irish will put ourselves through for a couple of weeks in the sun away from an wet, damp Irish summer.

Where to watch the All Ireland Hurling Final in Santiago this Sunday?

Hardly worth the trouble of watching it without the glorious presence of Kilkenny and the Fiery combatativeness of Tommy Walsh and sublime greatness of King Henry being on show :-( , I'm going for an 8 hour hike in the Burren instead.
