Laurie, you never cease to amaze me - not least because of your technical skills. (This is the person who persuaded me to use WhatsApp and, eventually to buy a smartphone.) The Wikilocs thing is brilliant (old-time map & compass guy here) and looking at your photos, I'm itching to go back. Looks...
I can recommend Manuel Ángel Martínez: used him two years in succession, just WhatsApp (+34 639241939) him with your present and next accommodation and leave the fee (€6 per stage last year) with your pack. Very reliable, goes all the way to SdC.
I'd be interested to hear your experience. I stayed there last year in June and was the only guest, although I think there may be more people on the Invierno this year. Dinner was freshly-caught trout.
If you get the chance to visit Pension Pacita at Ponte, between Quiroga and Pobra de Brollon, please let us know if it's still open. Only open in the evenings last year, may have closed completely.
I walked this route in the second half of June 2023, and saw no dogs at Barxa de Lor. However, I recognise the dog at A Zapateira, although I'd forgotten about it until I saw the video. When I passed by, the dog barked at me, but a woman appeared almost immediately and called it away, so I...
WhatsApp Señor Mar (+34 639 24 19 39) from your accommodation in Ponferrada with instructions in Spanish (use Google translate if necessary - I did) to collect and transfer for the following night. Leave your bag, where advised by your host, with €6 in cash, before 8 am. Sr Mar will reply...

Ana is a nurse whose mother lived in Bendillo. She passed away earlier this year and Ana is using her house as a cafe for a while until she decides what to do with it. She was planning to close at the end of September but might still be open.
I agree - take the bus (outside the railway station in A Rua) timetabled at 08:15 but usually late. Ask the driver to put you off at Montefurado - the bus doesn't go through the village so you alight on the main road (N120), walk down a lane, under the railway line, turn right and you'll reach...
I used Manuel Mar recently on the Invierno. He goes all the way from Ponferrada to Santiago. Very reliable, charges €6 per bag/stage. I just WhatsApped him every evening with the next day's accommodation. Recommended.
There is a bus from the railway station in A Rua at 08:15 (it's usually 15 minutes late) which calls at all Invierno stages to and including Monforte de Lemos - timetable attached.
Understandable. How far have you got? There is a railway line all the way to Monforte de Lemos which passes through most of the villages on the Invierno, and there are buses as well. The stretch from Quiroga to Monforte is quite strenuous, with three ascents, so you might consider skipping that...
I also stayed in the Hotel El Castillo in Ponferrada - good class business hotel with a/c, very convenient for the way, restaurants etc. Right by the castle, the Invierno starts a few hundred metres away.
I didn't stay in Las Medulas - made the mistake of booking La Peregrina in Carucedo. Nice hotel, but out in the countryside with no facilities - like an evening meal! Had to get a (costly) taxi to Las Medulas and ate in the Hotel Medulio. Wish I'd stayed there.
In Puente de Domingo Flórez I...
You don't say what type of accommodation you use, but either albergues or pirvate rooms in hotels shouldn't be a problem. If you want recommendations for hotels, let me know - I walked the Invierno last month.
Totally agree with this. Most of the route is very scenic, but you could skip Rodeiro...
Just caught up with this - you walked considerably longer stages than I did!
I remember Marisol at Montefurado - she had a sello, and there's a very useful water point right on the Camino.
I hope you got the Invierno on your certificate of distance - I found the Pilgrim Office quite impressed...
