    No Bombeiros at Alpriate. The Bombeiros in Alhandra were not accepting pilgrims, although sometimes they do. Don't make plans to stay there. Of course you can try, but no assurance they will accept you.

    Yes Laurie. The Albergue in Alpriate will open March 18. There's a man in town who might rent a room with a double bed. Ask at the Café. Pilgrims have to keep walking 8 more km until Verdelha. :(

    There are some outdoor shops selling backpacks. Not very good stores though. I mean, there are some chain stores, Decathlon and Sport Zone, they tend to sell mainly their own brands. Affordable prices but not really state of the art stuff...

    Yes Laurie. 20-21 km from the Cathedral. The place was chosen because of that, you can walk out of Lisboa in a relaxed way, plenty of time to enjoy your first walking day.

    Hello Laurie (et al) it's been a long time... Yes Via Lusitana is staffing the Albergue in Albergaria-a-Velha. 21 places, 8 euros. There's a fantastic hospitaleiro there, Joaquim Donario. (In Albergaria it's called Alberguista)
