After albergue, walk approx 50-100 meters, right hand side. Private home. 3 rooms to rent. Ask for Maria. Most kind abuela.
Stayed there in May 2014. Simple and clean. Shared bath. Was only person there.
Bom Caminho.
Bom caminho...
You will find ample info and feedback and copious discussions reg recommendation of routes and facilities on the very forum / section you posed this question.
Have fun exploring and planning.
yes indeed - was very happy to hear / read it - that there is a "substitute/replacement'. and hopefully that 'fake news' thingy about there not being any accommodations between Azambuja and Santarem can just evaporate :-)
Quinta da Burra sounds like a great place with matching host as well!
Obrigado Rich for your prompt response -
hm - might not be it after all - Quinta Marchanta was to the LEFT (the Tejo river to the right hand side, coming from Valada... more towards the beginning of PdM) . It was a former Horse 'farm' or riding school too.
I was the only guest there, in one of...
ola Laurie -
I wouldn't be surprised if this be actually the previous Quinta Marchanta -
the fotos makes me think that it is so - but to confirm I'd need a exact map location. Porto de Muge is not such a large settlement ... would be curious to find out.
will ask OP -
hope you are well - cheers - C
Bom Caminho -
i have walked the PC, alone. and sometimes ended up in a single room. by choice or because nothing was available. but less then 23euro's?? rarely. hardly.
That happened twice in a non-albergue setting - One was 20Euros in Ponte de Muge (not available anymore) and the other in...
good morning - I suppose you refer to Casa Fernanda?!
I would give them a call a few days ahead of time.
BTW: this is a private home, not an official business of any sort. Both Fernanda and Jacinto have many years ago opened their home to pilgrims (long, heartfelt story). Eventually they even...
Ola -
i stayed a couple of times at the TATTVA hostel near the Sao Bento trainstation and quite liked it. 2 min walk from catedrale Se. - During a repeat stay i just got "IN" for one night only - as the others were booked solid due to a big music festival in town . (Lucky me....) was totally...
LakeMcD mentioned and asked about walking in JULY - my reply was to that time-frame.
I enjoyed walking in May a lot - some hot days - between Lisboa and Barcelos - but i really enjoy it when it's warm/hot.
and i don't recall mosquitos in May - BUT ... on the coastal walk up from Porto to Vila do...
don't know about the route across the Frances - but in my experience of summer time in portugal, it can be hot/warm and muggy and mucho mosquitos.
yet weather patterns are changing so much, who knows what one will encounter this year?!
the further north you'll walk, probably the less heat...

"...and Fernanda does not deserve to be compared with a "commercial bussiness ..."
yes - i am glad you spelled that out. thank you albertinho!
her offerings put any 'business' to shame, if that's the right expression.
it's a truly unique place and not because it's donativo or serves yummy food...
la barre - which stages are you having a concern about regarding length? i completeley understand. am not one for long schloggs either .... but solutions were always found or simply appeared. my longest km day was 27km.... and it was fine mainly because i teamed up w/ a son/father team who were...
Ola LeBarre - you are very welcome. glad you find the info useful.
and you are absolutely correct and haven't missed anything, you are spot-on: the reason you can't find lodging info on my li'l list is that due to a health hic-up i decided to take the train to porto. I had initially intended to...
