As another South Australian, I must point out the correct spelling of the HEYSEN Trail (named for the artist Hans Heysen), which runs through much of the beautiful Adelaide Hills, so beautifully depicted in his landscapes. I noticed your spelling error being duplicated in all the responses to...
I'm here! Just noticed this thread today, as things are wrapping up. It has all been wonderful and transformative, right from the beginning on Friday. And lucky me, I'll be traveling back to Adelaide with @jl and another, so the sharing and Camino vibe will continue. 🙏 Thank you to the Members...
I agree about the uncertainty and confusion re: travel requirements but a lot of this is coming from the destination countries, not our own country. For eg, France recently downgraded Australia (and other countries) from "green zone" to "orange zone," meaning their assessment indicated our COVID...
It's more complicated than that - (not just about lack of equivalency between AUS and French vaccination certificates). At time of writing, you will be required to obtain a "pass vaccinal," and load the French "TousAntCovid" government app to display it, on arrival in France. Without these, you...
You still MUST have travel insurance, though! Not just for COVID. There was mention of the possibility of cover in Galicia in another thread, can't remember where, though, sorry...
Great to know, thanks. I can't explain why, but I really want to experience starting the chemin from Arles, it is a beautiful place. I understand this chemin is a quiet one, with less infrastructure, and that concerns me a bit, but I speak French well enough. I am looking forward to the crossing...

I've got my tickets! Planning to walk in May, following a family event in Toulon, France. I'm still not quite decided about which pilgrimage route, but probably the Via Tolosana from Arles - I will have a month to walk. I am very, very happy.
I am going to start planning now, for my belated pilgrimage to St George's College Jerusalem and to my loved ones in Toulon and then the belated le Puy Chemin, in 2022. The sooner the better.
Newsflash! (I think!) Just watched a live announcement by PM Scott Morrison, regarding re-opening of our borders for international travel, and a QR code which will be recognized globally, confirming our vaccination status. If I heard correctly, these to come into effect next month (Nov 2021)...
That inspires me a bit, YvonneR, I will be 70 in '23 as well. I had planned a pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 2020, followed by the Chemin d'Arles, but that was postponed...and postponed again. Even our Friends of the Camino St James dinner last month was postponed! But, I'm fully vaccinated now...
