Wow where were they when I was walking on April and early May, apart that is from semana santa?According to the website of the Spanish Federation of Friends of the Camino de Santiago arrived on 23 - 06 Pilgrim 100.000 in the Pilgrims office in Santiago .
Wish you well,Peter.
I read that the couple got a special blessing in the Cathedral.I wonder if s/he got a special Compostela? Or a bunch of flowers?Just kidding Buen Camino, SY

Yup!That's for the year so far? Am I reading that correctly?
Yeah, that just seems insane. I wonder what it will be when the year ends? At the rate it's going now.Yup!
Way too many.Yeah, that just seems insane. I wonder what it will be when the year ends? At the rate it's going now.
Wow. For once I think we agree on somethingWay too many.
Walk a few more C., and we may agree on moreWow. For once I think we agree on something
I'm working on that for 2018. We might walk with our friend the first part of the Frances for 2 weeks or if he can't make that work, we might do the Primitivo again. All contingent on my plantar fasciitis getting resolved.Walk a few more C., and we may agree on more.
Yes, the 100.000 are the arrivels from all routes. Is this for pilgrims arriving from all routes?
The number is for the Pilgrims who got there Compostela.I reckon so that doesn't account for those who only do a few stages so pretty busy I think
Never had any issue with crowds on any of my Camino's, but I always go in early April. Not only for the lack of crowds, but to avoid the blazing heat. April can be a wet month, but in 4 years in a row now we have barely ever used our rain gear. But given the choice, I would take rain over 35 to 40 C heat any day.
And the blackberries!Boy, I agree...I wouldn't even consider doing it in the summer because of the heat and because of the mobs of people. We walked in September and in May another. While both times of the year were fabulous, I would have to say the September experience was a bit nicer because of the grape harvest!
@MarcosdeParticuba , welsome to the forum. The figure has doubled as of August 22 to 200,000. In years past, there were that many pilgrims but 9 days later and three weeks later. So, bottom line, not that many, considering. Historically, there are less foreigners - in July and August only.View attachment 35916.
