2008 - all the way and all on my own

Howie

Member
Kia ora,

I plan to walk the Camino in May 2008 - all the way from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela.
All on my own.

Why?

Buggered if I know.

Perhaps because I turn 65 in 2008.
Perhaps because of gratefulness for my (so far) wonderful life.
Perhaps because of gratefulness for my (so far) wonderful wife.
Perhaps because I'm still alive, up'n running.
Perhaps because I'm slightly bonkers...

So there might come quite a few questions from my side.

Thank you.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
2008

Hola Howie,
Welcome to the Bonkers Brigade!
Some consolation is that last year 138 Kiwis got the Compostela in Santiago. 83 started in St Jean Pied de Port.
Interesting that of the French pilgrims, the over 60's make up the largest number.
In 2006 over 10 500 'wrinklies' (over 60's) got the compostela in Santiago.

PS: The 2006 stats of pilgrims who started from St Jean can be found here:

glad I'm not the only one already planning a 2008 start! You should be finished before I start so I'll be looking to you for expert guidance along the way

Here's to many hours happy planning
