The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
What an inspiration!

I once came upon a Frenchman along the Camino who likewise was in his 80s. He wouldn't say precisely how old, said he stopped counting after hitting 80. In fact he could have been in his 90s for all I knew.

I walk at a fairly brisk pace ... couldn't keep up with him!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
There's this 80-something year-old man in my Camino group from Montreal who is training for his Camino next year and he's a darn good walker. We had a 3-day training weekend recently and he walked his 14 km on Friday, 20 on Saturday and 24 on Sunday. This summer, he'll walk a 375 km trail here is Québec that is called Le Chemin des Sanctuaires (Way of the Sanctuaries)... I hope I'm able to do what he is doing at 70, let alone 80!

Great to hear, here is to healthy and happy living. My husband and I are about to set off from New Zealand to walk the Le Puy route and my husband is 80! I am about to turn 57, have done lots of walking on pilgrim routes over the last few years, but he leaves me behind on the training walks! We are very excited about our impending pilgrimage. Time for us after parenting years...motto, do what you can while you can! No one can take away what you have done in life! Cheers, Gitti
