A great little pensión in León

Since I just spent three days' forced R&R in León, I thought I would put in a plug for the place I stayed. I got the name from someone on this forum, not sure who, but it was a terrific suggestion.

Pensión Blanca. Villafranca 2 (corner with Ordoño II)
single rooms 27-30
double rooms 43
triple 55
with shared bath (two rooms share a bath) -- individual 22, double 35

Additional benefits: The place is spotless, breakfast is included, there is a free, pretty fast computer in the sitting room, the fully equipped kitchen and refrigerator can be used by guests, huge load of clothes washed and dried 7 euros.

There are 7 rooms. The owner is Blanca, a very nice honest and trusting soul. In the three days I was there, there were only two others walking the camino, which I thought was very odd. The pensión is right on that main street that goes from the river to the cathedral and changes names several times, but it's no more than a 10 minute walk from the cathedral. It's not in the old part of town, but for me that was a plus because on a Friday night I was able to have my window open and no earplugs!

In any event, I highly recommend it. Phone: 987-251-991

Buen camino, Laurie

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
thank you for sharing. This is exactly the kind of info i adore and store in my jornal for "just in case"

The regular single rate here is 33 Euro, a double is 50 Euro, but a discount is offered to pilgrims, and bicycle storage is available. It has WiFi:

Guzman is a short block from the main street leading to the cathedral.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thank you for sharing, my only unpleasant experiences along the Camino have occurred in the huge hostels of Leon, well that one just before Palas de Rei - Os Chacotes - is nothing to write home about either - Monte Gozo less said the better - something about size and ambience I suppose, in Leon I stay Guzman el Bueno, calle Lopez Castrillon 6, nicely located same price though a couple can usually negotiate a better deal
