- Camino Fraces starting August 15th - Finished September 11th
Hi there,
I'm married to another forum member (K Turner). We are very excited to start our Camino Frances on or about August 15th. My wife has been lurking and posting to this forum for quite some time. She's received a lot of great advice from all of you! We've been doing local hikes including at high altitude to get ready for the mileage. I've never been out of the US so all of this is truly exciting.
A long while ago we watched the movie "The Way" and I have been interested in doing the Camino ever since. A few months ago my wife made a secret purchase. The day after the package arrived she filled me in. K got a calling that she really needed to walk the Camino. So much so she started planning it. She told me she was planning to go alone. Being a protective husband and a former LEO I was immediately nervous. But when K gets something she has to do, it's best to either get out of the way or join in. I chose to join in! It was only then I was allowed to open the mysterious package. It had a brand new hiking frame backpack! I think she knew I was going to go even before she filled me in. The next day we bought the plane tickets and everything we've done since has been to get ready for the Camino. K has taken every bit of advice from the forum and we nearly have our packs ready. I've been slowly adding weight to my pack as it won't be very light on the walk. We are now doing our hikes with a fully loaded pack, just as if we were walking the Camino.
Thanks for reading! I'm sure I'll be asking all the same newby questions that have been answered 1000 times before. I'll do my best to search the forums before asking. Of course K is more than up to speed on most of those questions, so I usually just ask her ;^)
