I arrive at Pamplona airport at 23:00 night ( tuesday 22. of march), and have to get a hostel to stay in for the night. I would like to keep the budget on 20 euro if that is possible. Does anyone know where to go?

The next day I need a bus to Roncesvalle, to start my Camino. Is it easy to get to the busstation? And how much is the fare?

How good/bad are the english language?

Some years ago i was an experienced traveller, and now I feel like a beginner... a little nervous too. My goodness, I think it's time I got out there again hey  I hope some of you can help me and tell me it is safe to travel in Spain :D

Regards to all of you, Camilla :)

I absolutely loved Alburgue Casa Paderborn.
Their information is:

E-31014 Pamplona
Playa de Caparroso #6
Near the Puente magdalena

Telephone is 948 211 712
They charged me 7 Euro
That included breakfast
The rooms are small with 4 to 8 per room, 26 beds, and they are VERY clean

Highly recommended

From there, you can walk BACK toward town and to the bus station in about 15 minutes.
Easy walk.
I'm not sure about the price.

Re: Pamplona arriving at Pamplona in the middle of the night

Hello Anniesantiago.
At the time of your arrival at Pamplona the Hospitaleros in both refuges will have a sound sleep.
Also the most small guesthouses will be closed.
But here you find a list of many accomodations in Pamplona old town:

I strongly advise you to book in advance!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
in my opinion the easiest way to book a room is through internet. We are using this site http://www.booking.com and we find it reliable.
Last time in Pamplona we stayed at the Hotel Eslava, Plaza Virgen de la O, 7, 31001 Pamplona. It is open 24 hours so you can arrive late or in the middle of the night. A room for one person is €41 22/3 2011. They serve a nice breakfast. John Brierley lists this hotel in his book and it is situated about 50 meters from the camino (on Calle Mayor)and about 800 meters from the Pamplona bus station. Also walking distance to the Plaza del Castillo where cafe Iruna is situated.
Link to the map if walking from the hotel to the Estacion de Autobuses de Pamplona: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... =UTF8&z=16

Stayed here last time I arrived in Pamplona late at night (think it was recommended to me by someone on this forum!)

Hostel Hemmingway
http://www.hostelhemingway.com/pagina/inicio_en.html

Was perfectly ok, seems expensive compared to albergues but much cheaper than a hotel. I can't remember exactly how but I think we phoned/emailed in advance to say we'd be arriving very late in the evening.

edit: Oh and I've just noticed they do a pilgrim discount! Wish I'd known that last time!

I would call and tell them how late you are arriving and see if perhaps they would not hold a bed for you. They held one for me...although I got in around 9 pm.

Hi Camilla
I too will be arriving late in Pamplona and have done a bit of research on internet and would recommend hostal Hemmingway as it is not far from the bus station and is relatively inexpensive. The dorms are €19 euro for a 4 or 6 bed dorm. so it is within your budget. The discount for pilgrims does not apply to advance bookings. It is only applied if you arrive and they have a vacancy. I will book in advance and would suggest you do the same.
