An amazing albergue on the Norte — Parga Natura

Time of past OR future Camino
camino Frances Aug 21 doing norte June 22
I don't normally write reviews, as its a personal thing, but I have just come across an amazing one, just passed the camino split in San Breix De Parga, (after Villrarba). When you get to the split, there is a finger board advertising an albergue called Parga Nutura. Take the right hand split for 2.5km, on Google maps, to a village called Covelo. This has only been opened for a year, very clean, with a great dining room, & lounge area, great outdoor space overlooking the valley. The host cooks dinner, which was an amazing chickpea dish, all with wine, they do breakfast, & will leave a picnic bag out, for the morning. The host speaks amazing English, there is a local river 500m away that has areas for swimming, it is, for me, the ultimate way to spend the last few days on the Norte, after starting 4 weeks ago in Irun.

A few of the albergue, & the stunning sunset

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Stayed here in May 2022. Very nice place. And the vegetarians in my group loved it! They have playing cards and board games. Also, the private rooms are awesome!

Just to say that one of the owners of Parga Natura used to be at the albergues in Ferreira — Ponte Ferreira and A Nave, on the Primitivo. Juanma and his wife went to Cirauqui and the Albergue Maralotx on the Francés, while Isabel went to the Norte after Baamonde. Both places seem to be carrying on the high standards of Ferreira, though I haven’t yet been to Parga Natura.

It’s too bad that Parga Natura is in “competition” with Miraz — after Baamonde, you have to choose — go through Miraz or go through Parga. I’ve only walked the route through Miraz, and wonder what the “new route” (which is actually apparently the older, historical route) is like.

Ok so last time on the Norte I took a left at the intersection going for the long haul. This time I had some friends and I knew where they were staying. I took a right.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
