The number of pilgrims who received the Compostela last year rose by 8.88 percent over the year 2007, to receive a total of 125,141 people.
79% of the 125,141 pilgrims who last year received the Compostela used the French Way .
98,729 pilgrims used the French Way, 9 770 used the Portuguese Way, 7 035 the camino Norte, 5104 Via de la Plata, 2 719 Camino Primitivo, 1 451 English Road, and 333 used other routes.

103,669 wetn by foot, 21,143 by bike, 290 horses and 39 in a wheelchair.

The vast majority of pilgrims, the 91.65 per cent were from European countries, 3.87 per cent came from North America, 2.05 percent South America and 1.23 percent from Asia. Only 0.95 percent of pilgrims pilgrims came from Oceania and 0.25 per cent from African countries.
