Just curious as to whether there have been any reports of the little buggers on the Portuguese route?

Get walking mate and worry about these matters when the arrive.
The unknown is the best part of the camino and bed bugs are a very minor problem in the overall things you will encounter.

No reports at all in the Pilgrims' Office of bedbugs on this route.
