Ascension Thursday/ATM advice

For those on the Camino this week, I offer a bit of advice about ATMs. In a few days it will be Ascension Thursday. Because of this, remember to get withdrawals on Wednesday as many banks will be closed Thursday. Would normally suggest to get withdrawals on Fridays if needed for the weekend while the banks are open. If something happens to card in the machine, one would have to wait until Monday to retrieve. While the wait would be only one day if card is captured on Thursday, it could still be inconvenient. On the other hand, "waiting" on the Camino can be quite beautiful.

You are correct that 29 May is a public holiday and chances are a number of shops will be closed or closing around noon an yes banks will be closed but not their ATM, most buses and trains will likely be on public holiday schedules and vast majority of people will turn the weekend into a 4 day holiday; BUT not to worry the banks will be open again on Friday and Saturday just like they always are if you do something "stupid" with your debit card!!
