Astronaut and Brain surgeon

(Not) just for the fun of it:

An astronaut and a brain surgeon were discussing the existence of a God. The astronaut said: "I have been farther out into the Universe than any other man, but I have never seen any signs of a God."

The brain surgeon replied: " I have operated deeper into the human brain than anyone else, but I have never seen a thought."

I'll let you think (!) about that one.... But: Do thoughts exist...? You cannot see everything in life, but it may still be there for you to believe/rely on, or...?

Sometimes what is most profound, most powerful and most real is that which we cannot see.

Love it.....smiles...

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
It is like this - the material world has not somehow become more complicated and then randomly produced Life, which has then somehow become sophisticated enough to invent 'God'.
Matter does not produce Life
the truth is this -
Life, that boundless limitless energy that lies behind the appearance of Matter (which we call God), produces Matter.
Finite Matter does not produce Life - Infinite Life produces Finite Matter

but to discuss this with an atheist or someone who thinks that this 'solid' universe is all there is is like trying to discuss a Beethoven symphony with someone who is tone deaf

This is all very simple, to me at least. I DO believe - period!

No more need be said, except that I endorse the above posts. David's explanation is exquisite!

N.B. I just love the new use of the term "period!" Our current sitting president has made that turn of phrase famous, or infamous...whatever. But it DOES contribute a certainty of conviction and intent; and a level of which I hold on this metaphysical point of order.

God and the farmer:

A farmer purchases an old, run-down, abandoned farm with plans to turn it into a thriving enterprise. The fields are grown over with weeds, the farmhouse is falling apart, and the fences are collapsing all around. During his first day of work, the town preacher stops by to bless the man's work, saying, "May you and God work together to make this the farm of your dreams!"

A few months later, the preacher stops by again to call on the farmer. Lo and behold, it's like a completely different place -- the farm house is completely rebuilt and in excellent condition, there is plenty of cattle and other livestock happily munching on feed in well-fenced pens, and the fields are filled with crops planted in neat rows. "Amazing!" the preacher says. "Look what God and you have accomplished together!"

"Yes, reverend," says the farmer, "but remember what the farm was like when God was working it alone!"
