Hi,
I am planning to walk the santiago de compostela for the first time. I have relatives living near Cantabria and was planning to hike there from Santiago de Compostela. Is the route marked the other way around as well? Or just from Cantabria to Compostela?
Do you know any other way to safely walk the route without getting lost?
Thanks in advance,
Tijmen.

The route is only marked towards Santiago, but people to walk back home so it is possible. I suppose it is a metter of paying very close attention to waymarkers. I would also be temped to re-write my guide going in reverse because I am terrible at visualising such things and would soon get rattled by having the firgure right amd left ij reverse all the time.

Thank you so much for your reply! This explains why I've heard of people walking back, but couldn't find anything about reversed waymarkers.
I will plan my route on my own, without the waymarkers. Thank you,
Tijmen.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I have come across a few people walking back from Santiago on the Frances. If you have already walked the route forwards, you will remember quite a lot of the route directions, although it does look a little different going back. Depending on the time of year you will be walking, there will be people walking to Santiago, so when you are not sure of the route just stop and watch for where people are coming from.

Buen Camino,

Mike

Do you mean that after walking TO SdC you're then going to walk to Cantabria? Or do you mean you're starting in SdC? Sorry to be precious, but if the latter it's not really a pilgrimage...?
