Indeed I can.@trecile can likely point you to information on the forum re the coastal alternatives
Agree. But a little beyond Santander is Santillana del Mar. 2km south is the fabulous Cueva y Museo de Altamira. Well worth a visit. Buen CaminoI would do Irun to Santander.
Agreed. And if I had the choice of times, I'd choose September. I started from Irun on September 10, 2019, and the weather was almost perfect. A little rain in Galicia, of course.I would do Irun to Santander.
Could you explain the bitumen "feature"?Me too. And would seek out some of the coastal alternatives both for the landscapes / scenery and avoiding some of the bitumen which is a ‘feature’ of the Norte.

There is quite a large percentage of the Norte (at least compared to the Francés) that is on asphalt (bitumen) paved roads.Could you explain the bitumen "feature"?
I would appreciate that! You can add it on this thread, or send me a PM if you prefer. In a few days I will get back to this thread with some recommendations if you wish. Buen Camino
I too am wondering what the Norte is like after Oviedo. For all you who have done the Norte and Primitivo, what will I miss on the Norte after Oviedo?
