Best sections for 8 days, Siena to Rome?

Hi All I have about 8 days in September and I'd like to walk Siena to Rome. Obviously, I need to skip some sections, so I'm looking for suggestions on what to skip, or, better, what I should not miss? I can do about 20 kms a day, but not much more. I'm happy to hop a bus or taxi, or skip entire sections, but of course would need to plan the sections to skip depending on available transport. Any suggestions? If there are places you really loved, or really did not love, that would be a good start.

Generally speaking the sections in Tuscany are the best especially those from north of Siena starting in San Miniato. But if you are starting in Siena then the official 8 sections from there to Viterbo would be my suggestion.

Once you cross in Lazio and the closer to the urbanisation of Rome, the less pleasant it gets. You can take the train from Viterbo to Rome.

Thanks very much for your response and the sections. I have heard there are beautiful forests (and, I think, a regional park) before or after Sutro, what do you think about those sections? They are south of Viterbo.

I walked that section of the VF. What a fabulous section. Siena is incredible. These are all great - San Quirico, Acquapendente, Radicofini, Bolsena, Viterbo, Formello (don’t miss the VF steps in the museum there). I would definitely skip last section to Rome from Viterbo. Not sure if Formello is before this? Enjoy!!

Thanks very much for your response! I have read that there are beautiful forests around Sutri, I think between Vetralla (stage after Viterbo) and Sutri or maybe after Sutri, do you remember those, and if so do you think that stage is worth it? I want to visit Sutri anyway, and could bus or taxi from Viterbo to Vetralla, or just all the way to Sutri if the forests aren't so nice (but I think they are a Regional Park, so maybe they are nice)
