Hola a todos, hi to everyone, starting to plan for first time el camino a Santiago. I'm planning to start in Biarritz, down to San Sebastian and then "El Camino del Norte"
As far as I've found out, there isn't a nice walking route from Biarritz to St Jean de la Luz, and then San Sebastian. I was planning to walk along the coast line.
Anyone have done that recently?
Any recommendations?

Gracias, Merci, Thanks

From Hendaye there is a frequent ferry service across to Hondarribia, where you can join the Camino Norte.

There is a traditional Camino route starting at the Bayonne Catherdral passing by the Biarritz Airport...or the alternate tourist coastal route which starts in Bidart which is West of Biarritz...both of which connect to the Camino del Norte (maps below).

I walked from Biarritz airport to Irún (where I joined Camino Norte) my first day in 2016. I enjoyed most of the way. I followed the markings and also had a pdf-map (Biarritz/Bidart to Handaye/Irún) I found on a French hiking site. If you want to I can see if I still have them/can find it again. The route from the airport to Hendaye wasn’t so well marked so I used google maps to guide me.

This is really good information. Thanks to everyone for such nice and useful ideas.
So, Bayonne-St Jean de la Luz is doable in one single day?
Any recommendations for a nice place to sleep in St Jean?

If you have the map I’d love it. Thanks so much

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Yes, it's doable.
I stayed at the Hotel Les Genets in Bayonne / Anglet, and the next night at the Ibis in Ciboure.
Both places were good.

Can you recommend a walking route from Biarritz airport to Bidart?

My group of six arrives in Irun on May 20 and we're starting our Camino on May 21. Since it's the beginning of the busy season, I'm wondering if we should order trekking poles from Amazon Espana...
On the Norte...started Morgo headed to Santilanna del mer...today...wonderful walk.... 1st 7k and last 7k ...the middle industrail zone was meh. Just past polonca met loverly local spanish...
If anyone is in an albergues in or near Santillana del mar on the 1st of May and comes across Nadia from Ottawa would they kindly point her in the direction of this thread. Thanks all.....
