Burgos: Bus information

I know some folks think this is cheating, but do yourself a favor & hop on the bus from Villafria. According to a map in the private albergue in Atapuerca, you can take bus number 8 from Villafria to the albergue. It didn´t exactly happen this way, however. The bus we were on terminated close to the statue of El Cid, but still it got us through that horrific part of Burgos. I don´t know if bus route 8 goes all the way to the albergue.

The bus stops at the Buenos Aires Restaurant/hotel at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, & 14:00. Since we made it in time to get the 12:00 bus, I don´t know if the other times are correct. It does stop at several other places along the street into Burgos, if you miss the stop ( a bit hard, since other pilgrims will be waiting there). The cost of the bus is 75 euro cents.

Also there is bus service from Santo Domingo del Calzada to Burgos, with stops all along the camino up to Villafrance Montes de Oca. My friends took the bus from Sto Domingo to Villamayor del Rio (good albergue, great food!) for 1 euro, & then I took it with them the next day to Villafranca Montes de Oca, also for 1 euro. The tourist office in Santo Domingo has the bus schedule available so all you have to do is ask.
