for santiago airport to Lugo. You should be able to catch a bus to Sarria the same day and if you book into an albergue you can start walking the next day.

I caught the 16.00 Freire bus at the airport, changed at Lugo to catch the Monbus (Empresa Monforte) at 17.30 and was in Sarria by 18.15.

ps You can pay the driver. It is a good idea to have either change or 5 & 10€ notes to pay them with.

Santiago to Lugo 8.35, Sarria to Lugo 3.35, in December 2010 but allow for the fact the fares might have gone up.

All these are Autobuses Empresa Freire. The longer journey goes through villages, the shorter is more direct. Tickets from the Friere hatch at the bus station in Santiago are for a specific bus. If catching the 11.00am take care to get on the right one. These were correct in May 2011. We think it cost about 7euros each but it might have been less.

There are half-hourly buses from the airport to the bus station. Ticket offices are up the stairs from the bus stands.

If you want information from Lugo to Sarria you can e-mail the concilio - cii.oficinaturismo.lugo@xunta.es - they have sent us bus times to Fonsagrada. Also once you know which company you can check it out online
The information office in Lugo is also very helpful, but we found our bus went 10 minutes earlier than they said - best to check times again in the bus station in Lugo
