I am walking this route over 2 days mid May. Can anyone recommend if I should stay close to river or go inland? Is it easy to find? Please give me ideas....many thanks

as soon as you leave Caminha over a bridge ,you head for Vila Nova de Cerveira.
after about two kms there comes a sign ECOPISTA. If you follow the signs you will follow the river as close as possible. The common path is about 500 meters more inland and follows the road through small villages and hamlets. There you’ll find a church foryour stamp , your coffee and a sandwich .I prefered the Ecopista and once or twice changed for a coffee.
In Vila Nova de Cerveira is a kind of albergue with several rooms for two or four people
Nice restaurants around .
after Vila Nova you follow the Ecopista and the Minho river again in the direction of Valença do Minho untill you arrive in the neighborhood of Valença. very pleasant walk
Once in Valença first you will meet the albergue but are are several places to stay .

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
SO... the older path is on the ROAD and not a footpath in the hills to the south??? I have misunderstood!!
But it is mostly safe from traffic? Thanks for the clarification.

It leads through villages and hamlets
There live people so there is traffic, runs a train and there are some railwaycrossings
The distance between Caminha and Valença is about 30 kms. You walk into south eastern direction

Albertinho, I appreciate how responsive you are on the forum! Thanks for all your help.
For anyone considering this route, I can suggest Casa Gwendoline hostel in addition to the Pousada de Juventude (both in Vila Nova de Cerveira); it is small and family-run, with private rooms as well as a small dorm.

Will be doing hopefully my first of many Camino journeys leaving out of Porto December 29. From what I can tell, highs in 50’s to 60’s F and possibly some but not a lot of moisture with no snow...
Another wonderful walking day! Definitely feeling it in my legs today- a few more stretch breaks needed! And lots of wonderful places to take them! Theme for the day boardwalks! Received a few...
