Camino Baztan: Is a credencial available in Bayonne?

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
The same credential for all Caminos de Santiago, and you can buy one in advance from the forum store, or from your country's pilgrims association if there is one.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Yes in the cathedral in Bayonne when their office is open and in Refuge St. Jaques after 2pm

That's a lovely small albergue to stay in also. Right beside the Cathedral. It had particular opening dates.

Thanks to all above. Since we haven't been in that part of France, we are staying for 5 nights before we start the Baztan. We will find the priest and get the credencial!

I was so determined to get what I understood was the hardest stamp (sello) to acquire, the one from the cathedral in Zaragosa, that I must have walked 10 kims over hours inside this massive structure before I found a priest who would give me one. Before he would stamp my credencial, I was subjected to a 20 minute homily.

Same has happened to me in other places, including Toulouse. Lucky my French and Spanish comprehension is pretty good. I honestly didn't mind. It was indeed petty of me to be so obsessed with stamps and credencials, losing sight of the real meaning of the camino. But we are all human and have our foibles. "Credencial and sello obsession" is not one we need to confess, fortunately.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

If you are spending any of those 5 days in Biarritz and Bayonne, I would highly recommend an afternoon at the Marche in Biarritz because there a plenty of great bistros lining both side of the market area. The Basque museum in Bayonne is definitely worth a visit and the cafes along the Nive offer great lunches and dinners.

We got our credentials in the cathedral, luckily we arrived at the right time.
Don't miss the St Jacques statue in the cathedral.

Hi Fleur,
What time is the right time? Do you know if I can get a credential on Easter Monday 1 April 24?
Thanks,
Yvonne

I got mine in the cathedral. This was in 2019.

I stayed in an albergue about 30 min walk out of town. It was the hospitalara's house and could accommodate about 6-8 pilgrims.

The hospitalera shepherded us to a cafe down the street where we were well fed very cheaply. Fixed menu. The first time I had gezier salad, a first course.

I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
Money stolen from bag on bed while sleeping. Estelle municipal hostel. Not a big inconvenience as my passport and credit cards were left.
