Camino Frances Albergues

Hi all.
I'm planning to walk the Camino Frances, in late March/early April, starting in St Jean. Does anyone have any experiences with regards to the albergues at this time of year? Did you have trouble getting a bed? If so what did you do?
Cheers Patricio.

Hi Patricia,
The main problem in March could be finding an open albergue!
I doubt you'll have too much competition for beds but, it you do, you'll have to find a room at an inn, small hotel or casa rural.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't actually fixed a date yet so I assume that if I go in april I'll have no problems with finding an open albergue.

Cheers PatriciO.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Patricio,

there are some albergues which open after Easter, but I've been walking the Frances a few times in March/ April, and I never had a problem with finding a bed. You normally can check with the hospitaleros if the albergues on your next stage are open.

Two years ago I walked from Roncesvalles starting in very early March. I had no trouble finding albergues that were open. I found it a great time of year to walk. It was never crowded, there were never difficulties finding a bed, yet there were enough pilgrims for camaraderie. It was a little cold some days but not too bad.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Gracias Viajero.
That is what I hoped, though with this year being a holy year there might be a few more people going early to avoid the rush.
