or thereabouts... Joe here from Northwest Arkansas . Laurie & I will be celebrating our 35th anniversary on the Camino Francis. Can't wait! .. But 759 days? .. Jiminey Cricket! thats wayyyy to long of a wait . But need to get into ship shape so we can tackle those hefty inclines.

Looking a May 2014 starting a St Jean . We are SO looking forward to this adventure

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Me too, but who's counting! I didn't like the number of days left so I am using months ... I might switch to weeks though since that seems to drop faster ;) Technically we could go as early as next spring but my husband retires next summer and since I want to walk in the spring that bumps it forward to 2014. Luckily since we will be retired there will be no time restrictions and we can go at our own pace and stop to smell the roses if we like :) But the wait is killing me ;)

Maybe we'll meet on the trail :)

Wow you'll be so well prepared when it's time for you to go! :) I have been preparing for my trip for almost a year now and I'm glad because it gave me time to buy stuff on sale, read lots of good advice, train with shoes and so on. If you don't already speak spanish maybe sign up for a course?

Buen camino! Therese

Can't think of a better way to begin your retirement Mysticl :D . I posted earlier that we would begin our trek in May but upon further research Sept is looking better , of course with 24 months to go we could change the start month 24 times after discovering other possibilites .

It appears that May is a fairly rainy month and somewhat chilly where September on the other hand is less rainy yet somewhat chilly (?) .. anyway , we will figure that out as we progress with no doubt being deluged upon no matter what month we chose to begin. but we-can-do-it.

Yes..Maybe we will meet on the Way .. If you see a male Pilgrim laying face down on the path somewhere on the Pyrennes .. that that will be me. Please stop and say "HI"

Your idea of taking a course in Spanish is a very good one Therese , we intend to do this. Actually we should have done this some time ago since moving to Arkansas as many here are from Mexico. Communication would would be so much easier .

Looking to be in great shape when we start , Living in the Ozarks provides ample hills and hollers to trek upon . That first day out of St Jean is beginning to scare me the more I read.. hmmm wonder how heavy a jet propelled backpack is :?
