Plan to walk Camino Frances September '2017'
Hi, My partner and I are from the Blue Mountains in Australia, we start our first Camino this September. Having not been overseas for over thirty years we are a little nervous 'what are we doing etc' However we thought if we don't go now we will never go. We don't want to look back one day wishing we had done it. My first post on this forum.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Welcome John Pa! Nothing to be nervous about and I hope you have a wonderful time.

Buen Camino!

Thank you Mike! My first reply and so encouraging. I met my partner over thirty years ago when we were both travelling overseas. Don't know where along the way [ pun not intended] i became a ' scaredy cat.' Lucky my partner is all for it so to speak. Thanks again.

Hi John Pa. I felt much the same when I did my first mini-Frances (Sarria to Santiago) because the whole deal was an unknown for me even though I had watched a number of documentaries on YouTube.

Then last year I walked from SJPdP to Castrojeriz (320+ kms) and a few other short legs until I got to Santiago and this year I'm heading back to do the bits I missed.

You'll both love it I'm sure. For me, those walks were the most self-satisfying and self-enlightening things I have ever done and I'm sure you will feel the same way.

Welcome John Pa, what you have facing you is absolutely amazing, there will be days when you want to give up (don't) there are days when you think what a wonderful journey this is. You will meet fellow pilgrims from all around the world, all as nervous as you, don't be afraid to share that nervousness with others, it certainly helps.
I think everyone is nervous on their first camino, heck I'm planning my second, I'm nervous and not going until March next year.
Have a wonderful journey and jus remember to go with the flow, listen to your body and enjoy.
Buen Camino

Hi Lance, just what I needed to read, really helpful. Thank you for your thoughtful reply! Really helpful.

Hi John Pa. I was nervous when I decided to walk and publicly announced my plans on the forum a couple of months ago. With a milestone birthday of 60 this year I thought maybe I was getting too old for multiple days of walking, especially solo, but now excitement has taken over big time as I realize I will be 60 years young and will never be truly alone on the Camino. Apparently we're both leaving on the same day and we've already 'virtually' met.
See you on the trail!

I truly believe you will love your time on the Camino. My experiences have changed how I see myself, the people I associate with, and of the world in general and all for the better.

Enjoy and Ben Camino Liddybee.

Hi Liddybee, Looks like we are the same age. I like your comment 60 yrs young. It feels as though my Camino has started already, here we are in contact because of the Camino [ of course.] Trying to book Orrison for the night of the 8th Sept. Looking forward to meeting you and saying remember that 'time four months ago when we were in contact via the forum..... How exciting it all is! We decided after putting it off, for far to long, there would never be a perfect time to go. At some point one has to take the plunge so to speak. Good on you for doing so, and solo to. As you mention you will never be truly alone on the Camino.

Hi john pa, this is my first Camino as well and I understand about the nerves...I'm excited but nervous too. Leaving on the same day as you and from Sydney Australia, hopefully we'll meet on the way!

I am staying at gite Kayola that night as well so I'm sure we'll bump into each other. I have been told that you need to go into Orrison for dinner and must book so if that interests you, you can email via their site.
