I will be arriving in St. Jean on August 24th 2009 from Florida, USa. If anyone else is walking at that time please let me know. I have been preparing for two and a half years and have just decided to book a ticket and go.I am 45 years old. Does anyone have suggestions about building stamina

I am walking the Camino from St Jean starting on the 26th or 27th of August. I arrive from Australia to Madrid on the 23rd where I meet one of my sons. I think It will take us two days to get to St Jean and for me to get over the jet lag.It is a 30 hour trip from Australia. I am 57 years old and my son Jonathan is 24.In terms of stamina you should try to build up to two hours walking with your pack per day and one 20 mile walk on weekends. I would make sure that you walk in the boots you intend to take with you.

Peter Mattick

Yes, as the other pilgrim indicated, make sure to include plenty of inclines and declines in your training. During my own training, I also wore my back pack and my hiking clothes...and often walked in the rain to make sure I knew how that felt. Buen Camino!

Joe and I arrive in Santiago on August 18. We will rest a day or two, then bus to Leon and begin our walk there. Once we reach Santiago, our plan is to walk backwards down the VDLP.

Maybe we'll see you along the way!
