Camping on the Camino Frances

Hey all,

I was wondering if camping in a tent was possible at all on the Camino Frances?

Is it possible to find spots just outside cities to camp?

Any info is greatly appreciated,

Rob

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Robert, I think this may help. Basically it is possible, but only in certain areas, and certain conditions. Not in Navarra, not in Asturias, not in Galicia, etc.

And when you see signs that say "Coto de caza" be aware that this means "hunting grounds" - and yes, it's also private land.

Some albergues have enough land for pilgrims to set up tents, others actually have tents set up for the overflow, but it's on private land, their land.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
